Silly Flashing Blue light

In the top left corner of the phone, under where it says N80, there is a light that flashes periodically. I've looked through the manual and I can't find why! What does it do? Can I turn it off? It's very annoying!

It doesn't do it all the time, for example, it hasn't done it for a while at the moment. But always seems to be on when I am trying to sleep (it now lives in a drawer).

Does it drain the battery? My N80's battery life seems short compared to previous phones I've had from Nokia.

The light flashes to let you know the phone is on when it is in sleep mode. There's no way to turn off the light when sleep mode is active as far as I know. Mine lies on the floor face down when I sleep 🙄 You could deactivate sleep mode but then you'll probably have shorter battery life as a result.

People have had varying experiences with the N80's battery life. There are quite a few posts here that discuss it so I'd suggest searching this forum for various peoples' approaches to the battery life.
Personally I've had no problems with the battery life, getting at least a whole day's use out of the phone with varied MP3 player, radio, satnav, phone calls and texting duties.

I turned the standby feature off and I honestly haven't noticed any difference at all in battery life. Still can't understand why Nokia made the led blue though, as most people think it's a bluetooth indicator.

That's what I thought it was:redface: Spent ages looking at the connectivity section of the manual!

It's in the manual so I can't see why people think it's bluetooth related. I don't mind the LED, in fact I quite like it. You can turn it off so what's the problem?

What page of the manual is it on?

The way I do... mine also lies on the floor down when I sleep.😉

Page 93 of my manual. It says:

"Sleep mode—Select whether the display is switched off to save battery power 20 minutes after the power saver is activated. When the display is switched off, a LED blinks to indicate that the device is powered on."

just plug your charger in and charge your phone at night and this will stop the blue light from flashing.

also if you do a search in this forum before asking a question you will find most questions like this have already been discussed several times, and i am sure you will find your answers much quicker that way.

😊
