Okay, we know Outlook Inbox won't sync through PC Suite and I can live with that so...

...Outlook is set to leave downloaded messages on the server (BT Yahoo) for a while so when I connect with my N80 they can be downloaded. Which is all well and good but...

...if I download something on the N80 first, it's deleted from the server and can't be downloaded to Outlook.

Does anyone know of a setting on the phone somewhere (obviously I can't find one and it's not for lack of looking) that stops the phone mail client from deleting messages from the server?

The built-in e-mail client for the N80 doesn't support it unfortunatly. You might have more luck if you can get hold of a compatable J2ME e-mail client.

If possible I'd suggest ditching your POP3 mail account and replacing it with an IMAP4 account. That way you can download only what you really need from your server and keep copies server side... saves a fortune on your data bill as well 😊

check if there is an option to leave a copy on the server of the downloaded messages......bcoz theres an option for that in Outlook and i think ur using that.........

sorry bro....jes checked there is no option to leave a copy on the server in the N80....mayb u could mark all the emails u download on the phone and copy them to Outlook..........

Thanks, at least now I can stop messing about trying to find an option which isn't there.

The excellent Profimail on the otherhand does. I use my N80 during the day to scan my mailbox, downloading those of interest to read and deleting the junk. Then at the end of the day I d/l all the mails I've kept onto my PC. Oh, and it also supports IMAP4.
