Vodafone live and MMS problems answer!

I have 2 contracts T-mobile & Voda. I am in the UK.

MMS on Voda has been up and down since it was launched.
One minute I can send the next I can't, after what must be hundreds of call to support and getting nowwhere I have finally found out what my problem has been, which may help others with the same problem!

I have worked out that Voda UK has put a file size limit on it's MMS messages.
The recommended file size limit is 100k for MMS, Voda has chosen theirs to be just 30k!!!

For us 7650 users means that images taken in 'high' quality file sizes vary between 27 & 35k normally - this is why sometimes a message will send and othertimes it will not.

An image taken in a dark room can be 45k!

The answer is to reduce the image quality in the camera settings to 'normal' but this is far from acceptable!!

Voda has never told me this in person after about 100 calls to their support center until when today I phoned again and told them of my findings - the woman then said - yes there is a 30k limit on all messages and then tried to blame me for my message sending problems as I changed the quality settings on my phone!! Cheeky!!!!

There limit is in excess of 30k - I have never sent a message over 41k so i know there limit is within the 40 or above region - However Orange also limit to 40 or 45k
Images are downscaled by default when sending an MMS, so a picture will be around 8-10kB in file size 😊
No it does not automatically do that, it depends on your settings on the phone.

Yes, it only downsizes images if you have you MMS seting to 'image size' 'small'
This is a different setting to the one in 'images' where you set the quality as basic, normal, high, which canges the compression used.

The latter is usfull if you only MMS from phone to phone as the image size is scalled down to 160x120, useless if you want to MMS to e-mail or for printing out.
