Various problems developing with my N93

I'm having a few problems that I've noticed since I got my N93 and I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar troubles, I'll try and get it to a nearby Nokia centre tomorrow.

The battery sometimes seems to run out to quickly, though not all the time. I put it on charge when I got home from work last night, about 11:45pm and left it there for a couple of hours. I also checked it about 10-15 minutes after I put it on and it was charging then but I took it off and went to bed. Now it's midday next day, the phones just been sitting there doing nothing and it's down to two on the batteryometer. All it's done is have bluetooth on, WLAN finder set to check every five minutes (there is a WLAN though but its never really affected it before) and it's received two messages.

Sometimes the external speaker goes dodgy, sounds all crappy when it's ringing sometimes, never starts like that just turns that way whilst it's ringing.

Just now I tried to make a call and the earpiece speaker wasn't working but it seems to be now.

I think something's gotten stuck behind the lower right buttons on the keypad cos the # key's completely lost it's click and seems to make a crumple kinda sound instead and nearby keys are slightly affected.

The side buttons seems to have become sticky even though I've never had this problem with phones before.

The other side buttons, the zoom and the shutter button also seem to be a little sticky and they also seem to be a little loose.

One more thing as well, after the update there was some software on my memory card that the phone tried to reinstall but said it was corrupted, I don't know what it is since I just hae a dodgy sis filename but it won't let me delete it and every time I restart the phone it tries to install it but I can't find it to delete it.

When I first got my N93 I had the same issue with the battery, phone died on me quickly, I was almot about to exchange it.

My N93, after two full charges, battery is fine now. note that camera usage, bluetooth and infrared drain your battery big time,

Buy another battery to check if the issue remains. Nokia claims a standbye time of about 14 days I believe or so check if yr model conforms to this. If not, I suggest to get another N93.

Or better, wait for the N95 as the still camera on the N93 is a disgrace

Haven't had the problems you mention with the battery, i'm very happy with it. I don;t recognise all the other probs you mention either, except for the shutter- and zoom-buttons, which are a little loose.

About the software, i had the same problem. I had two applications that wanted to renstall but failed, every time i restarted the phone. In the end I just reformatted the memorycard, and reinstalled everything.

With Symbian v. 2 you could just keep using your MMC with all the apps installed on it, backing up and restoring was very easy that way. With 3d ed., that apparently doesn't always work anymore.

Sometimes also have the battery problem you describe. I take look at it and it's half full (I'm the positive type), but an hour later it's dead. My guess is that it has to do with in what kind of WiFi or GSM coverage environment I'm in at the moment, as it has to boost its recivers to a maximum if reception is bad. I've noticed WiFi can drain it quickly...

Also got the "installing" thing on my 2gig mem after firmware upgrade. Haven't figured out what files I need to remove to fix it yet, but I figure I'll be formatting the whole thing before the next fw upgrade anyway (hopefully in the next few days). Fresh start...

Have noticed another strange thing, though: With the handfull of java apps and games I've tried, none of them have any sound working. Have you guys yet tried any java games with functioning sound, and if so which ones?

I had my N93 to the Nokia repair centre twice since i got the phone 2 months back - that's abismal to say the least. I just sent it in with the following problems:

1. All my keypads aren't working - nothing happens. i can't make any calls or messages. Only the "joystick" works - i call it joystick for lack of better words
2. changing profiles with the on/off buton - i need to flip open to change. I used to be able to switch using the camera funstion keys
3. My battery ran flat in less than a night. It was full charge last night when i left it on, and by 10am it is totally flat.

this phone really is getting on my nerve - i thought it's a good buy, now i am thinking of switching back to Sony ericsson.

Symbian problem or Nokia problem?

I've had that problem with the changing of profiles with the clamshell closed but it seems to have fixed itself. Earlier today it also mega-crashed and I had to take out the battery to reset it.

I suppose it would void the warranty if I got the tools to take apart the phone myself just to clean the insides?
