7650 and P800 SMS games questions (techy)

Hi Guys
Sorry if i'm asking the obvious, but I've just been playing Chess with SMS from Purple Software against a colleague in Manchester on his 7650 (I'm in London!!!) and was wondering how on earth they've done it?? At the beginning of the game i set up who my opponent will be and then throughout the game, every move i make is automatically sent to my friend in Manchester; without me doing nothing but actually make the move!! and then every move he makes is sent automatically to me - how???

Also this news was up at handango http://www.handango.com/NewsArticle.jsp?siteId=1&jid=13F7F54D7A432XX7CDX72FX2EXD43164&articleId=1504 , does this mean i can play against someone i know with a P800?? I thought UIQ was different to Series 60???

I'm impressed anyway
:P

nevermind......

Yes

Probably some protocol they have that is supported by their games...

If you ask me nothing really WOW, its expensive to finish a good game of chess with all those SMS....for the rich 😃

As that program uses SMS to transmit the moves it is the same which platform
the game is on. It would work even with PC if it could receive SMS messages.
So you can play against mate with P800 😃

Quite simple but nice. Pretty expensive though, esp. if the opponent can really play chess 😊

Playing via GPRS is a better solution.

Why isnt there any games yet that we can play over GPRS?
A gamespy-like service could be used to look for other players 😊

Sorry about the crossed wires - usually i'm a lurker, guess i must refine my submissions to look less "ad" like??????

i get stupid amounts of free texts

Hmmm - if your going to have a slow game of chess its always best done by snail mail [ok arguably more expensive - but theres no better way!] or email - But it takes some fun outta it that way... YEah SMS email is stupidly expensive, Lets wait for all the networks to push it!

Hmmm - A nice way to use them up - Well go for it! sounds fun .... Do they do a bluetooth chess?
