What profiles are detected by your dongle's software?
Hello everyone, i have an E70 (FW 2.608... ) and i have a pretty simple question:
- What profiles ( services ) shoud i expect to be detected by a PC being paired with the phone?
I have this doubt because my BlueSoleil Conceptronic (BT 2.0) only detects the following 3 profiles: Card Exchange, File Transfer and DUN :frown: .
I'd like to ask you all to post your phone's model, dongle's software and services detected on the phone.
Thank's in advance.
You have encountered my only remaining grip against my E60 phone. I have been struggling with Bluetooth issues since I bought the phone in May. I have the latest firmware (2.0618.06.05) and have used two different Bluetooth dongles and three different Bluetooth stacks. With a Kensington dongle and the Widcomm BT stack I saw the same three profiles as you (DUN, file exchange, and card exchange). This was also true for an IVT dongle and BlueSoleil BT stack. The best results I have gotten have been with the Kensington dongle and the Microsoft BT stack. With this combination I see the three profiles I saw with the others but I can also see the Imaging profile. However, I can connect via active sync with the Kensington/MS BT stack combo, even though this profile does not show up when I open "My Bluetooth Places". I sometimes have to run the MS Bluetooth Setup Wizard and select "I want to find a specific Bluetooth device and configure how the computer will use its services". My computer will then detect the active sync profile. In addition, although I have not been able to see the Serial Port Profile on my PC, I have been able to connect with GPS receiver, which requires this profile. I also have an application on my PDA (a Dell Axim x50v) that requires the serial port profile but the PDA (which uses a Widcomm BT stack) is not able to see this profile and I cannot then use that application. Finally, I had previously used a Jabra BT200 headset with my old phone (a Nokia 6310i). When I tried to use it with the E60 (and a friend's E61) I could not make a connection. I had to buy a new Jabra BT500 and it works fine.
I believe that there is something odd about the way Nokia has implemented Bluetooth on E-series phones and I hope that a future firmware update will resolve these issues.

Now we're getting somewhere... 35 of you have been here already, i know there's a lot more to be said... let us know your POV !
- should this thread originate a poll ( BT stack, dongle or Nokia: where's the flaw )?

:con? well, well, well... could you tell us what soft you're using ?
Though the SPP seems to be missing, you've got a lot more than our 3 ( almost useless ) profiles.
Nokia's web site (the FAQ section) states the following:
Q: Which Bluetooth profiles does my Nokia device support?
A: This device is compliant with Bluetooth Specification 1.2 supporting the following profiles:
Generic Access Profile,
Serial Port Profile,
Dial-up Networking Profile
Headset Profile
Handsfree Profile
Generic Object Exchange Profile
Object Push Profile
File Transfer Profile
SIM Access Profile
Basic Imaging Profile.
Also, I have been able to connect my E60 (sometimes) using the SPP but not always. This is why I believe that there is a software issue in the way that Nokia implemented Bluetooth on E-series phones.

The bluez BT stack on Linux.

What practical use is SPP (in context of phones)?

Your software is most likely showing only the profiles it knows how to handle. The software I used lists all the services that the phone claims to support.
