Hi!
I just downloaded a polyphonic ringtone which was called "tone.mid". It played as normal but when I tried to rename it it didn't let me. Then I thought it might be a virus and then I tried to delete the file. It didn't let me. Then I rebooted the phone and I was finally able to delete the file. However, either it's just coincidence or whatever...after that all my images were gone and I can't access the ringtone composer anymore. It's still there...at least the icon but when I select "New tone" it says: "System error". 😞
Is there anyway of getting it back without sending the phone in?
Thanks for your help.
Hardy
Backup your phone and reset your settings to default...if that dosnt work then do a hard reset and format your phone to its original condition!
thats funny 😃
i don't think there are virus' for the fone yet
its just coincidence prolly just a bug thats all.
Hi!
Thanks for your help!
How do I do a hard reset though?
Thanks.
Hardy
*#7370# in standby mode. Have it connected to a charger when u attempt this.
Note: You will loose all you data and contacts!
And do I lose data when I reset to default settings?
Thanks again.
Hardy
No just the settings.....only a *#7370# will delete your contacts and data.
By the way, just to clarify - it's categorically impossible to get a virus in a ringtone! If you inspect the ".mid" file you'll see that it's very small and doesn't have enough space to hold a virus. Also, unlike Windows, the ringtone player does not have the ability to execute programs!
Okay, thanks for the clarification.
When something goes wrong, you always expect the worst and I'm sorry to say I don't have a clue about Symbian and all that 😊
Sorry about my ignorance.
One more question though. At the moment I don't have a PC that can communicate with my phone and I was wondering, is it possible to save ALL settings from the phone with the supplied software to the PC and after the reset restore it all?
Thanks again.
Hardy
and if a file is opened you cannot delete or rename itl
Maybe the mid was still opened in the backround...
Maybe the mid was still opened in the backround...
but that cannot explain the Application Error message after rebooting!
I was wondering if a midi can used as an exploit like a DoS exploit etc...overflowing the recorder....or exploiting a bug or similar....[/quote]

Everything except JAVA apps.

also u forgot to mention operator logo, hehe 😃
Recently my 7650 has started to show some odd behaviour, like when turned on it takes 2-3 attempts for it to power up, the nokia logo grows dim and then it shuts off just to start up again...
I have the extended 7650 from PsiNT, and there is a option format, if I use that what exactly will it do? As I've understood I need to have the charger plugged when formating, is there anything else I should think of? Will the phone be reset to factory settings, or will it loose all programs including the OS and everything?
All help is greatly welcome 😃

The format option is the same as hard reset. You just dont need to type that
number string. *73... what ever, cant remember 😃
In hard reset, you will lose everything on the phone. It will be on same state
as when you bought it from store. So backup first with PC suite.
