I asked this once, but perhaps someone does know it by now .. 😊
At c/system/data I have a file named "logdbu.dat", which is 157 kB large ... and increasing day by day. I have no idea what this is for ... sounds like some log file or something like that. I would like to delete it - I guess nothing evil will happen ... but I'm not sure ... 😮nfire:
Anybody can help?

Its used by the Log of the phone, you cannot delete it! You can even copy it! Anyways, even though I cleared my Log the file is still about 40kb and I opened it (from a backup on the PC) with notepad and it showed some numbers I called and stuff. Its definately from the Log and is deleted I guess like a recycle bin..when it needs to be deleted!

Normal behaviour of SQL databases... When it is compressed by the database all the deleted stuff will go away - though I don't know how often Symbian OS compresses its databases.

ok, I got it, thx a lot! In the German menue its called "protocol" and not log and so I didnt see what logdbu could be ... 😊 ... cleared all logs and the logdbu.dat now is 3 kB ... saved 150 kB! Great!

Does this actually take up the usable amount of memory!? Ie the amount of space I have to put apps in? And by log we are talking about the Call logs right?

Yes it does take usable amount of memory, its stored on the C: drive.
But you can clear your logs and regain it in no time.
And yes,we are talking about call logs.

yes, yes, yes 😃 😃
one other thing you can do is set the log to 1 day. i do that and maintain 23-25kb for that file.
A day? Then what is the point in loging?

The issue is to reduce the space occupied by the log files and it was one suggestion. You can't eat the cake and have it too!!

There is an option to set the log completely off. That makes more sense indeed than logging one day ... 😉

i still dont understand and see the logic in this phrase....since i was a child :P 😊

If you eat the cake, you no longer have the cake, therefore you "cannot have your cake and eat it".

😉

what if its a big cake and you only ate a slice of it? 😃

oh talking about cakes...its my birthday on sunday :bday: 😃 ...hint 😉

Then you could have some cake and eat some cake, not the same!
:P

Happy B'day for Sunday, p.s. how old will you be?
