PLEASE HELP with my e61!!!

3 replies · 1,868 views · Started 15 November 2006

so i downloaded and installed a theme that (i guess) wasn't compatible with my phone. now i can't access my 'themes' folder to change it. worse yet i can't access any programs (eg. connecting to the internet). i can't remove it because the file is in use.

any ideas??

I found this solution which is a bit drastic and untested by me on this forum but i forget where...

"All Series 60 version 2 smartphones (from the Nokia 6600 onwards) have a special 'reformat' function built into their ROM, but you have to know exactly how to activate it and need to be fairly dexterous. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer), '*' and '3'. While continuing to hold these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone. Keep holding the three buttons down, counting to ten slowly and then release them. The device will restart again within a few seconds, and when it comes back up it should present the same location/time/date dialogs as when you first got it. All your data on the internal disk will be gone, but then so also will the rogue files and applications. Restore from your last good backup or re-sync with Outlook as necessary."

I have used the procedure described by smallboy on my E60 and it works just like he described. If you check the FAQ on this site or on the my-symbian.com site this procedure is explained.

Thanks guys......i did perform a hard reset on my phone and that worked. Now my problem is trying to get my themes and apps back on the phone.

But everytime i try to install the files it tells me "unable to install". I've removed all apps from the 'App. Mgr' and formatted my memory card. I'm thinking that the phone still thinks these programs are still in the phone.......for when i open App. Mgr -> Options -> View Log, some apps say they're 'installed'.

Any thoughts??
