Dear fellow users of the SE M600i, here I would like to express my warning towards active field users of this phone. I work with a multinational firm that requires me to travel to different countries several times a year, which means I am subject to extreme changes of climate.
I've recently packed up a nice looking sturdy device to replace my trusty palm, the seemingly oyster cased looking device, the SE M600i actually is not up for a busy and active lifestyle. I purchased the device for use in the UK, about a fortnight ago. Later, a few days back I was culled for in Malaysia. Two extremely constrasting climate, off course on arrival my body reacts. Profusely sweating like a p*g (Yeah, I sweat alot, but i think it's not monsoon classifiable) still, a phone call came in from the office, a long discussion had to be done on the phone, in the midst of the airport terminal and the cab lane humidity, my sweat generators was on active duty, all the time i had the phone stuck to my ear, and 45 mins later... guess what?? Adding to the annoyance, phone look dry with only traces of sweat on it, but a big puddle appeared behind the display of my phone?
What?? How did that get there? Pryed off the screen protector to see whether it's the behind the protector.. But no! It's way back behind the backlight unit as far as i can think off the moment instant.
Horrible, I hated the idea that the display was not sealed by the casing, got to the hotel room, and I engineered my way through to the inside of the phone, to find the reason and eliminate the smudge of sweat.
Through dedication, i managed to clear the sweat pool out, and also find reasons for SE to improve display protection. The spongy gasket that lines the housing of the phone and the display is too thin and serves no purpose, not just for sweat but dust particles and other bit and bobs that might it's way through it if the phone remains in your pocket for a while, and in the long run, anomolies would be on display and your likelyness to chuck the device out off the window is increased 10 folds.
I love the display resolution, but not with dust and spots of humidity displayed together, would you?
My recommendation,
1. Work cool with this phone.
2. Keep a finger between your cheek while speaking to it.
3. Don't ever sweat or spill on the screen.
4. Use a bluetooth headset.
