Hi, Slide Lock Question (How to turn on?)

Hey,
I know from viewing threads that most of you dislike the slide lock promopt of lock keypad 'yes'?
Well my N80 went faulty about 3 weeks ago, stopped reading my 2GB memory card and the o2 supplied MCard so I took it back and under warranty its been repaired. Or so i hope ... I am at home now but all my gear is back at my university house and I wont be back there until next tuesday.
Since its 'repair' everything runs fine (no memory card to test) except when I slide the phone down it no longer offers a prompt. The keypad is still active and I cannot lock it :S
I read about the power button code etc but I dont wanna be typing ateast 4 digits in every time I want to lock my phone. Ive searched all over the settings but cant find it ANYWHERE?
So after a story no1 gave a crap about 😛 ... can someone please tell me how to turn it on?

Secondly when I get back id like some apps for the phone? My friend had the N70 i think and had sat nav working on it for free? ive seen youtube videos and google videos of people playing dvds on the n80. Question therefore is can anyone help me get sat nav on my phone? Would help ALOT, also how do i watch and get dvds onto the phone?
Any other useful apps would be a treat if reccomended. Ill have a browse of the forums abit more after i post this.

If you can reply with my first answer to [email protected] that would be helpful.

Thanks in advance and talk soon.

Hi mate,
Im sure thats really useful and ill check it out next week but as i said ...
Im not back at uni until wednesday of next week so I wont have any of my software until then. Theres noway of getting the apps onto my phone PLUS im on a windows 95 comp here with broadband thats too fast for the computer lol so its stoneage stuff.
Ill check the link but I could really do with knowing how to turn the inbuilt slide lock on. THANKS

I hate to say it but if the phone's not offering the prompt to lock the keypad it's probably a hardware problem. There's a small contact in the slider which recognises when it's open or closed and it sounds like it's not working. I've had a similar problem myself.

yep sounds like a hardware fault, many people get this when they put 3rd party facias on. Although this 'fault' used with the software is generally seen as desireable.

i reccomend downloading mlock and assigning it to the left sellection key, then hitting that key locks the keypad.

I removed all the metal connectors on the original one and it still works but any of the aftermarket ones (ebay) won't bring up the popup. Any ideas on which connector does this?

I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere, that the slider lock works on magnetism, because some people where having problems with some magnetised cases hanging up the phone as they pulled them out. Could it be that the third party housing does not contain this? Just a theory, I don't know for sure.

Yep it’s magnetically operated ive tested by unlocking the phone with a magnet –probably not a good idea (don’t know what damage it could cause) but I did it anyway.
