WebViewer 1.8 wont run on my 7650, and Java question.

Hi everyone.

I have just downloaded direct from the reqwirelss web site the WebViewer 1.8 application.

Everytime I try to open a URL I get the following error message.

App. Closed
jes-201-Connect
ionsEventServer@1...
KERN-EXEC 3

Any idea what this means and how to get the program working.

I was looking in my local Vodafone shop the other day, and noticed the system had a java icon in the tools (?) folder. I dont have this on my system, so I am wondering if I have Java installed. How can I find out and could this be the cause of the above problem.

Many thanks in advance

Victor

This particular error message has been discussed here, and well as mentioned in the FAQ on Requireless site.

Anyways, it means its accessing an invalid access point like GPRS Wap. You will have to define the access point for GPRS Internet services. You should get this from ur Operator. Also set your Gateway IP to 0.0.0.0

If i are not able to see the icon, how are you able to run it??? You should find the icon in Tools> Applications folder, where all java applications are. Its highly improbable there's no java installed on ur phone.

Did u do a OTA install?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I did a OTA install, assuming you mean wap to reqwireless site and do the live install thingy.

I did search the forum (Honest!) and tried the 0.0.0.0, the analoge settings, checked gprs vs wap, and various others, I also looked on the requireless faq, but the error is slightly different to what they have, so I am stummped.

As for the Java icon its not their at all, thats why I am wondering if my system doesnt have java. Is there a way to check. Ive never loaded programs onto my system.

Hm....
Would u consider giving your phone the Benefit of Doubt of a corrupt install?
Also, there's this update to V1.8 version now... V1.8.1

If u have set up the mail client on ur phone (if u are not on Ir or Bt yet), you might be better off downloading the file to the phone.
