4 Elements - Civ for S60?

Long-time Civilisation fan Krisse has been playing '4 Elements' for all editions of S60. Despite superb graphics and sound, 4 Elements lets itself down with poor instructions and more than a few playability oddities.

Read on in the full article.

Are you familiar with the Nether Earth for ZX Spectrum? There is also a PC remake, but no native one for Symbian. That was apparently one of the first (if not THE first) game of this kind. Very addictive.

Hmm... interesting. It does look very similar indeed. Despite owning a Spectrum I'd never heard of the game unfortunately.

Perhaps the developers were so familiar with the original game and its clones that they assumed everyone would understand how it worked.

I just read a bit more about Nether Earth and it seems a more complex game than 4Elements, you can issue a greater range of orders to the military units for example. It also comes with extensive instructions (ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/games-info/n/NetherEarth.txt ), something that 4Elements is lacking.

When I try to install the 4 Elements trial on my N73 via the PC Suite I receive a warning just after picking the memory card to install to:

Application access
Allow application to:
- Read user data

View details tells me this will let it read your calendar entries, contacs, notes and messages.

I downloaded the trial from Handango, so it should not have been tampered with. Why would the game need access to my user data? No other game I installed required that to save progress, scores, etc.

Has anyone else noticed this?
