Nokia has released a new version of its PC Suite application . The new version, 6.82, adds stability fixes to the backup and restore functionality, improves Nokia Music Manager, adds fluency in information exchange with Microsoft applications (auch as Windows Media Player 11) and integrates Nokia Software Updater, which allows you to update your phone's firmware from home, into PC Suite.

Read on in the full article.

Actually, the rule of thumb with Nokia PC Suite releases is:

1) If your existing installation is working OK then DON'T TOUCH IT. And ignore any new releases unless you get so far behind that it becomes overwhelmingly tempting

2) If your existing PC Suite installation isn't working OK then you have nothing to lose, in which case try installing a new release over the top. If this doesn't work, use the appropriate removal tools from Nokia and then try a totally fresh install.

Happily, I come under 1) above and, even with the pressure to review these things for AAS, I'm not destabilising my PC Suite until I absolutely HAVE to 8-)

gave it a try since i'm after a fresh format. Only thing i noticed is that even i tried to backup my N71 i got a notice that backing up messages was not supported :con? and to reinstall pc suite support on the phone from the main help menu. Just did the same thing for my 9500. Unless i'm getting senile that didn't use to happen :con?

Sorry, I dont' agree.

My PC suite always works fine, I uses three phones E61, N80, N73 and N95. I always updated to the latest release possible, and not even a single mess-up.

Your commens may be true in the past couple years, but PC suite has become lots better than that nowadays. Probably, you install to many 'stuff' inside your PC? 😊

This version is a great release for me since I'm using Vista RC2. Its more stable and works very well with WMP11.

Of course its up to you what you need.

I've upgraded every time there's been a new release and no different this time. Went in over the existing version without a hitch and works smoothly with my N80.
