Is anyone yet had any ships or that rash into there house as the light that flashes on the N80 is like bursts of light rays from the sun over scotland.....
On a more serious note i would like to ask if anyone has figured out how to stop the wee bad boy flashing.......honestly mines is doing the wifes head in....and mine.......i have started hiding the wee puppy inside a wrist band and that helps a bit......
So does anyone know of a fix or am i the only one who finds this very annoying.....????/
Thanks for your time in reading this.....
urm...try turning the phone upside down?
pluging the charger in stops the flashing.
You are not the only one who finds it annoying.
The turning it upside down does not stop the phone from lighting up the whole room.......not sure if you are being cheeky or not..........and the charging part is not too hot seeing it does not need charged all the time.....
cover it with a small piece of insulation tape.?......tippex it out😉
My battery is usually pretty low at the end of the day so I just put my phone on charge when I go to bed and that stops the flashing. Surely this is the best answer if it realy annoys you, don't worry the phone will stop charging when the battery is full and the light will still not flash.
Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Display > Sleep mode > Off
Turning off sleep mode will turn off the blue flashing light, you may find the battery doesn't last as long as when sleep mode is active.
Personally, I plug my N80 into charge every night and it kills two problems at once... turns off the flashing blue light and it also sets the battery up for the next day.

Gee, get over it. So your old phone didn't have a flashing blue light and your new one does - get used to it! Most people turn their mobiles off at bedtime unless they're secret service agents or on-call doctors. As others have said; you can turn the power saving mode off, turn the phone upside down or plug in the charger. Most phones don't have a power saving mode and thus don't have a blue light - you can make your N80 'normal' too.
Just turn it upside down, it works!

My N80 stays on all the time, and I'm neither a secret service agent or an on-call doctor! In fact most people I know leave their phones switched on all day and all night. But on the other hand the flashing blue light on the N80 doesn't bother me in the slightest and I can sleep without a problem whilst it is flashing away. You can put it in a drawer though so that you don't see the light flashing away and you should still hear it if it rings.
if really needed, you can use one of the taskman aplications to disable it.
just serch the forum for it.
also, i havnt tried this as it doesnt bother me, when you just turn your phoen on. as soon as the main screen is visable after the nokia handshake, press and hold menu 2 bring up the running aplicatios menu, or hwatever you call it, and if your quick theres something on there 2 disable it.

Plugging in the charger doesn't stop the flashing for me. 😞
Laying it to rest on its front does the trick for me, although I'd much rather just be able to turn the bl**dy light off.

EDIT: I have just noticed that since upgrading to the V4.x firmware, which I only did a couple of days ago, plugging in the charger the phone does indeed stop the flashing light. Must be a new v4 feature.
Try closing your eyes when sleeping!I can't believe folks whinge about this !!!!
1. Turn the phone over - why is this even a thread when this is all u need to do!
2. Turn the phone off - are you really that important u need it on all night
3. Turn the sleep mode off - waste the feeble battery even quicker!
4. Use a Taskman app to disable the "blinkingled" hidden app if none of the obvious simple choices above take your fancy
Despite some good (and not-so-good-but-amusing) suggestions, I think a lot of the replies here are pretty harsh towards the OP. The guy was only politely asking if there was a way to turn off the blue flashing light, which in a fully darkened room, can be pretty annoying to some people.
It doesn't bother me so much, but it drives my girlfriend up the wall (who oddly enough is an on-call doctor, and for all you know so might be the OP), which means neither of us get any sleep!
Give the guy a break!

You are right my man about being a bit harsh.....i do not normally post such things on these forums unless it is a bit techy but it is a simple post of how do you deal with the blue light using the phone functions, not by doing a number of other things like turning it upside down (which still does not stop the flash).........anyway.....thanks to some posts and the rest you should all get a life as isnt it a bit sadder to reply to this with a gripe rather than a suggestion anyway?.....
By the way, about how i am dealing with the light (or not me but to keep my wife happy) is to put it in my drawer but i need to have my wits about me in the morning to remember it.....(not a morning person).......
cheers
If a few answers on a message forum are enough to upset you then I am inclined to think that internet forums may not be for you.
Notice the careful use of the word 'IF'
The very act of starting any thread on a forum opens you up to all manner of answers. I think there have been some very good replies and some great advice.
I don't understand why everyone gets upset and defensive when people complain about the flashing light. I hate the light, I'd love to see an actual solution, then a bunch of idiots than don't think I have a right to complain and seek help just because it doesn't happen to bother them. If you don't have a software/hardware solution, STFU and let somebody answer who knows.
