IS a clean and "auto" process, only with "next" buttons... Your phone is a locked one? Could be that!

Should be... Must be, a clean process. Last week I do that to a 3 phones, 2 - N73 and one N70... "next" is the only button to press! Try a phone format, *#7370#, and do a backup first, because the lost is total:icon4: After, try again! And, uninstall the NSU, clean registry, reboot PC and install again. Must work!

is it safe to flash via phoenix?
i have a friend who has given me a guide but not sure if i want to risk it

Phoenix is a illegal way, and the best way to lose guarantee... Dont try that on a new phone, because You have always the alternative to go to a Nokia Service Point, and on guarantee they do the upgrade process for free!
Backup - PCSuite - Security Copy (first icon), thats all!

well im nt sure cos there not a service point near me.the phoenix way although it looks anit risky it looks ok with the guide.
the nokia website says that carphonewarehouse is a service point but hwat would i say to them.is that the kind of service point that you mean?

A official Nokia Service Point! If carphonewarehouse is an official point, they do the job. In that case is not necessary said nothing special, only demand an upgrade, and they do that, because is a free service under guarantee.

Yes, on guarantee is a free service! Before NSU I do that several times with same phone.
