sorry if this is a repost i have tried searching for my problem but found nothing.ive installed the latest firmware today using nokia updater and now yes phone is better ie no freezing etc it doesnt recognise my memory card.its a 2gb card not sure on make.pos fake as i bought it on ebay.is there anyway around this cos it has all my software,images,music etc stored onto it:frown:

If you bought it from Ebay then 99% chance you have a fake card and you probably wont get it to work again with the N80, if you get a card reader for your PC you may be able to retrieve some of your Data.
If you had followed the instuctions properly on the Nokia website then you should have removed the data off the memory card first, then formatted your memory card before updating to V4. If you had done this then you wouldn't be suffering from this problem.
As to how you can retrive the data, I'm not sure but your best bet is by using a memory card reader to transfer the data back to your PC, then format your memory card and put the data back onto it.
oh right,i must of misread the part about formatting card before doing the uupdate.ive taken all the data off it using my card reader and formatted it on pc but everytime i put card back in it reads it then says its unsafe to remove card without using the feature.does this mean card is totally funked or just in my phone?
I don't know. Have you tried formatting the memory card in the phone rather than in your card reader? Just a thought.

it wont even recognise there is a memory card in there so it wont format it.phone works spot on with orig 128mb card that came with it.think its a case of buying a proper card and putting all data back onto it from pc :frown:

i have experimented same problem with an sony 2gb card...
P990i can't recognize the card, but for now, i have found an tips to make the card working...
format your memory card on pc, and copy some files in the root folder (try to insert the card in the p990i and see), if card don't work again, try, to move some files in an subfolder named "Other" ( picture, sound, or text files...)
I know it's probably not very helpful to you in getting your card working, but MobyMemory.com are selling 2gb mini SD cards really cheaply. I got mine for under �20, with an SD adapter.
At least with them you know it's a genuine card.
(and the postage was well quick!)
