Sony Walkman phones vs n73

Does anyone know how good the sound quality is of the n73 compared to Sony Walkman phones? I have the Sony w800i Walkman phone and it sounds WAY better than the iPod Nano. The MegaBass is really cool. I'm planning to get the n73 in a few weeks and I was wondering about the sound quality. Does the bass have enough oomph?

Megabass does not give oomph. It just makes it sound messy and crabby .... but thats just me after listening to stupidly expensive CD/Vinyl on electrostatic headphones.

Have you actually tried the iPod against the W series with the same headphones?

Anyway, I digress. The biggest difference between the N73 and the W series is the headphones. The ones that Nokia ship aren't too bad, but as you like deafening bass, you won't get that (unless you update to the ME firmware, which gives a bass boost option, similar to megabass).

I've gone from a W550 to the N73, and whilst I prefer the sound balance (and walkman player) on the W550, I wouldn't say the n73 is particularly bad.

My sister has a K800 and I have a N73 ( a far better phone )

I had the same track ... recorded at the same bit rate .. on both phones...tried my sennheiser pXC 250 ( mmmmmm they are soo nice )
and the N73 was better...

I'm not juts saying that as thet's the phone I have .. they are just bettre !!

Awesome, guys. Thanks for the replies. Atleast now, I'm more confident on the n73. The w800i is not bad at all... so I just want to make sure that I'm going to replace it with something better or atleast, just as good sounding. 😊
