i was going to buy the nokia n73 from orange on contract for 35 a month (dolphin plan). but i remebered that orange used to brand mobile phones. do they still do this? if so what is the branding?
Nokia n73 on orange
Yes they do brand the phone. The branding is horrible on their version of the N73, but if you do a search on these forums, you'll find how to update your phone with generic Nokia firmware and thus get rid of all the Orange branding.
yeh. kl. bt is this nt risky. as i dont want to break ma new phone
The branding isn't *that* horrible, but at least you could turn off the home screen.
The updating of the firmware isn't even slightly risky, its exactly the same sort of process that you can do on the SE phones, but you just add in another simple step to change the phones product code from being Orange branded to "vanilla" Nokia, and the Nokia update software does the rest for you.
Just make sure you backup your phone first.
Oh, and uninstall your applications as well - I found that several apps didn't auto-reinstall correctly, so had to manually remove them from the relevant memory card folders, and re-install.
