I sync my N73 with Outlook, and have set birthdays for many of contacts. They show up in the calendar, and with Outlook I get a reminder when I log on in the morning.
Unfortunately the default reminder is 15 mins before a meeting - this leads to my N73 sounding a reminder at 23.45 the night before somebody's birthday to remind me of their birthday. Not ideal if I want an early night......
Is there some way to change this on the Nokia? I have searched many forums, and am quite surprised to find nobody else suffering from this.

yep me to particulary with appointments in my outlook calendar that are 1 day duration. However I thought that you could set the reminder time or turn it off in outlook and it gets updated when you do your sync.
Unfortunately I need my Outlook reminders for general meetings so it is defaulted to on.
My old Smartphone used to remind me of an all day appointment at 7.45 in the morning which was fine, but 11.45 doesn't work for me.
I guess I will manually have to adjust the all-day appointments in Outlook at the beginning of every week to remove reminders - unless somebody has an alternative suggestion.

Can you not set the reminder to anything else then 15 mins. My version of outlook 2003 you can choose reminder at: 5, 10, 15 30 mins 1, 2, 3 4 ... hours right up to two weeks before.
I thought as far as outlook is concerned an all day appointment starts and finishes at 12:00am. Hence why a 15 min alarm rings at 11:45pm.
If you put in day appointments starting at 08:00 and finishing at 18:00 then you will get the alarm call at 07:45 as you used to have.
On my N73 each appointment has its own unique alarm setting. Sure under tools >> options in outlook you can set the default for all new appointments.
But you can change this for each appointment individually at any time by opening it in the calendar.
Is this what you mean?
I see your point about changing the Outlook settings - but I quite like Outlook reminding me of meetings 15 mins in advance, it works for me in the office.
But Outlook doesn't let you specify 15 mins for normal meetings, and something different for all day tasks, which is how it automatically inserts birthdays into the calendar. What would be ideal is for no reminder for these events.
What I'm trying to say is there seems to be no way to set a default for my preferences - ie 15 mins for meetings and no reminder for birthdays. I just have to edit all my contacts birthdays manually.

sosarder - further to your post, did I miss something? Can I change the Outlook default all day appointment from starting at 12am to starting at another time, say 8am?

Why don't you put the birthdays as meeting which are repeating every year?
That's exactly what I want to happen - but it has to be done manually. Outlook puts the all-day appointments in automatically.......if I wish them to change them to meetings I have to change every one individually - will take a while!
I'm very surprised nobody else seems to have the same problem!

I have no ideea how Outlook works, I am using Lotus Notes 6.5 and the meetings/todo's/calendar items are sync'ed really nice. You can select how much time will sound the alarm before meeting.
