Hi guys, the top and bottom portions of my N80 have play in them. Especially when the slider is closed but also when it's open. When the slider is closed I have a good 2mm of side to side movement which is dreadful! Really offputting! I took the phone to my local Nokia Repair Centre and they had it two weeks. Finally got it back today and I jest not, it's exactly the same! It's like they've done nothing with it! I had a right barney with the guy there and he said they could find nothing wrong with it. So Nokia are sending these out of the factory 'broken' and it's all part of the design? 😮
Anyone else got side to side movement in their slider?
think it comes as a feature of the fone build quality = crap
If you look around this forum you found a lot of complains about that!
It seems to depend a lot on the fascia, ie, there are minute differences in the size of each one. The 'Genuine Nokia' one my phone came with had a lot of play in it. It's since been replaced with one of those hookie rubbery ones from eBay and it's solid as.
Which says something a bit depressing about Nokia.

So left to right play is completely caused by the upper fascia? My question is this, if I buy a replacement fascia and it cures the problem, will this be for good or is it likely to return again?
I'm saying that the tight fit you seek is found or lost only down to the minute differences between the size of the phone, slide or fascia.
Any one of them could be changed to solve the problem. Or. make it worse. Sadly, this is a reflection on Nokia's apparently poor manufacturing process.
I've had two N80's, whilst none were appallingly bad one certainly had more play than the other (straight out of the box).
In my case, the apparent slightly larger size of the rubber cover has solved the problem.
Changing the fascia is certainly the cheapest way to enter the 'Slide Play Lottery'.
