n93 Screen blanking out often — Nokia N92, N93 and Nokia N93i

I've had my N93 for a few months, no complaints, works so well for browsing(using opera) great midp java experience.

However...I've just started to experience the screen suddenly blanking out when I push a button(as if it's executing something in the backround... then eventually after a few seconds... or MANY seconds, it comes back on. Almost as if it kinda goes in some standby mode etc. making the device pretty unusable.

I've tried a hard reset, *,green, 3, power which did reset,,, but problem persists here is the rom build info (I have NOT tried updating the rom)

I had a problem with my N93 in that it suddenly started to switch itself off, I watched it one morning and the screen just froze and then went off.

I reformatted, did it again and remove my SD card.

I then reflashed it and its now fine, a reflash is worth a try, if not bring it to your nearest Nokia service centre

Everyone,

I fixed it. Looks like there is something on my card that wants to install itself, thus rendering the device in a wacky state.

Although the original *, 3, Green, power reset didn't seem to fix things. I took the memory card out and did the reset found at settings, phone, General, scrolled to the bottom of the list for Orig. phone settings. Pressed enter, and entered the default 12345 as the code. Answered yes, let it reboot, and all is well in wonderland again.

of course, if I put the card back in, then it attemps to reinstall whatever bad program was there... and the same behaivior occurs again...which means I have to reset again and keep the card out.

Any ideas on what I can remove from the card that might be a "self installing" file? My guess is some kind of extension is self registering.. but I honestly don't know. Any Suggestions would be great..

Why not just copy the card's contents onto your hard disk, wipe the card and then copy back on everything except that in the \sys folder? Then just re-install any known good third party apps that you can't already spot from your internal disk.....

I tend to find my N93 crashes from time to time, it sometimes during a call and shortly after phone call too

It s not memory card related but due to the sometimes many applications I have running such as the slide show application...

let's hope this new firmware update which is beginning to take ages to get finalized fixes the problem.........

do I need any other helper programs to install the rom or is there just an exe that installs from the pc? Thanks😊

i have experienced this too! just today...

i have a 2 gig mini sd and some applications installed on it.
i reset the phone, reformatted the memory card and all that stuff and it didn't seem to work.

i uninstalled all my applications and removed some that is not 'really' compatible with the phone and it works the same way it did before! fast and efficient n93 again!!
