[p910] Touchscreen Replacement ?

1 replies · 5,155 views · Started 01 December 2006

Hello everyone.

I'm a proud owner of a p910 but yesterday my touchscreen started to fail:

First the top right corner woulnd't work anymore (it would detect the press like 1 cm below). I tried calibrating but that didn't work at all. I also tried a master reset, a full internal disk format. That didn't work at all

Today, the affected touchscreen area started to spread so I cleaned screen & removed the housing (just in case something was stuck in between), I presed the sides of the touchscreen, etc...:frown:

Cutting things short, it's now dead because i maneged to rip off part of the touchscreen (don't ask how) :con?

I know that the easiest solution is to buy a new LCD, but that's way too expensive for me (it's going to cost 1/3 of what the phone cost me!!!! :icon13: and about 6 weeks to get here!; that ain't good)

BUT, I saw on ebay that I can also buy ONLY the touchscreen for under 30 dlls (and get it within 3 days).

I searched google for more info on this "touchscreen replacement" only to find NOTHING! (no instructions, no blogs, nada!).

My questions are:

Has anyone here done this before? if so, did it work? how did you do it? was it hard?... if not, should i go for it (it's only 30 bucks)??????

Please help me as having to use my old T300 is torture (love the battery duration though)!!!!😡

Thanks in advance
James M.

I have bought a replacement screen fro EBay and that worked fine, trick is to be careful when opening up these casings, keep it all clean and away from any magnetic sources, also, ask yourself how old was the screen, and if you replace it what was the underlying cause, the new screen may work or maybe not, or work for a day a week.

Sorry to be a downer here. I would try the screen from EBay.
