Are there any freeware ones of this, i have been using the Psiloc version but dont use it enough to pay for it and cant make head nor tails of their loyalty program!!
Wireless Hotspot Finder
no need for a third party app. Just go to menu -> connect. -> conn. Mgr and you'll have the list of wlans in range, refreshed every few seconds. If that's not enough, download Nokia WLAN wizard (must be somewhere on the nokia web site, i think it was designed for the N80 internet edition so you might find it on its support page) which does the exact same thing but also allows you to launch the web browser directly once you've found a hotspot.
cheers, will have a look at Nokias site. I was aware of conn man but like flash toys!!
the onboard wlan finder is not that good, it doesnt find half the wlans hotspot finder found!!
I have tracked down the N80 app and it runs, here is the link if anyone wants it

Just downloaded and installed this program. Thanks for the heads up on this one as it solves one of my many issues with my beloved e70. :icon14:
no probs, though i dont find it as 'sensitive' as the psiloc application.

What is that? Free?

no m8, it is found here http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262201,Psiloc+Hotspot+Finder though it is on the standard e61 from 3, you get a 'free' period then you have to pay or they have some 'loyalty' program that I cant make head nor tails of.
I don't like things I have to pay for so I'll make due with what I have here. Thanks for the info though! :icon14:
me neither, the n80 app works, but not as well imho for some reason as the psiloc one.

Probably because the psiloc app cranks up the radiation being put into your brain to get better reception.

dont really care as long as it finds wlans and hangs on to them....
Yeah, I hear ya there. I have a HORRIBLE time with trying to connect to networks. I will do a search and it will show several networks and when I try to connect it gives me a couple messages that I can't recall at the moment but it happens more often than not. Is something set up incorrectly in my phone or is this pretty much what everyone else is getting with this phone?
Get the Nokia Wizard here as well, works great on E61. That Psiloc thing is pretty useless.

How does this differ from the link posted in post #4 above other than it's from the Euro site?

It doesnt, apart from my link having pretty icons and gfx.
@alphasports, sorry to disgree m8 but psiloc picksup more networks than the nokia tools and I know networks are there and psiloc found them but wlan tool wont!!
I guess I just don't like Psiloc because it appears to be more "show" than "go", particularly because it costs money! I haven't really used wifi anywhere where there isn't monster signal. I like the Nokia Wizard because of its e-z "browse" command based on the hotspot it's currently on. Otherwise, I find if I'm not looking, the browser sometimes sneaks on to my data carrier instead of wifi network, costing me money!
Note the emphasis on "money"!
I proved myself right today when i was in my local mcdonalds.
before with psiloc i could pickup the starbucks 2 doors down, the public wireless portal across the road and a private lan.
today with wlan tool nothing found, tried the integral wlan browser and again nothing.
