9500 battery/power level

I had my 9210 for several years and never replaced the battery.
I've had my 9500 for a few years now, and haven't had any apparent battery/power problem, until now!

Went to it this morning to see if it needed charging before leaving the house, and found it was completely flat. Charged it on mains for a short while, then put it on charge again in the car. Disconnected it from the car, and when I returned and was hooking it up to the charger again, noticed it was showing as completely flat again.

Returned home, put it on the mains charger, and after a comparitively short time got the beep signalling that the charge was complete. The battery gauge showed full, but as I was looking at it, it suddenly disappeared, with only the battery symbol showing. I've now put it back on charge, but the meter is showing fully charged, and the meter scale is not going up and down as it would if charging, suggesting that it is fully charged. However, the battery/power indicator on the internal screen is showing only the battery symbol, but no meter/scale.

So................... is it charged or not? Has anybody else had a similar problem?

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for all those suggestions!

The crisis is now over and normal service has been resumed
