:frown: 😡

i got this message "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer" after i install the ugrade firmware to my n80 from nokia website.

now the phone cannot start at all. what should i do? please help. Thanks.

Well it sounds very much like your firmware flashing failed part way through. If you really were using the Nokia Software Updater (and not Phoenix) then there really isn't much you can do.
You'll need to head down to your nearest Nokia Service centre and get them to fix the problem for you.

If you're based in the UK the following form will list your nearest Service Centre.

http://www.apps.nokia.co.uk/clubnokiaservice/

Service repairs due to NSU failures will be free of charge as this will be covered by your warranty (and since the N80 is fairly new it's bound to still be in warranty... well unless you've done anything silly like installing your own facia, or any other activty that would void it).

Hope this helps

If your cannot get to an NCC and your mobile network cannot help, try a hard reset...

1.Power off phone
2.hold Green,3 and * keys
3.Power on phone (still holding three keys)
4.Wait 60 seconds (still holding three keys)

If it works, you will probably have to re-flash the phone to upgrade the FW.

You know dez, I tried the hard reset tonight, and I think my fingers have gotten cramps, thats the hardest combination of key presses I have ever had to try ....

I know, it took me 2 attempts to get it to work last time I needed it.

I assume Nokia don't want to make it too easy for their customers.

Im a bit blind. which button is the green button? And does hard reset always work?

If hard reset doesn't work then you need a Nokia Engineer at an NCC.
