Part review and part tutorial, our own krisse evaluates HanDBase for S60 3rd Edition and finds an impressive powerhouse with a huge data library behind it. It's spoilt only by a few late-beta niggles. Here's the big HanDBase review.
Read on in the full article.
I should add that this review is written from the point of view of someone new to databases, as HanDBase has a very low consumer-friendly pricepoint ($19.99). Apologies if you were expecting something from a professional point of view.
At that price I think HanDBase has a lot of potential as a client for using pre-made DBs, especially as they cost nothing extra once you've bought the software.
I agree about the niggling bugs though. The first dB I created exhibited them and I had to mail support. They duly notified the beta team but no news as to when the final version will be available, and I'm stuck with calculations that won't work.
It's also a bit of a chore without a decent syncing conduit, as you have to use the filemanager to over-copy changed dBs.
Yeah, I couldn't find a sync feature either, seems very odd that there isn't one.
Copying a single database file isn't that difficult, but it would get very tedious if you have loads of databases to keep up to date on the phone.
I agree on the synching (missing) feature. This is very much missing for the E61 and should be implemented asap.
There are sync possiblity's for Palm and PPC though.
