Firmware upgrade stopped 90% help !!

Damn this website is so slow when it works!

Anyway back on topic, I have read that it is possible to reflash the phone using pheonix!

Try doing a search either here or at www.3g.co.uk/3gforum/

You can also try a hard reset...

1. Power off phone (remove battery if you cant turn it off)
2. press the following keys GREEN, 3, *
3. Power on (whilst still holding three keys down)
4. Wait 60 seconds (whilst still holding three keys down)

If the above doesn't work (repeat hard reset 2 or 3 times), then your phone is bricked and probably needs repaired by Nokia. Just pretend it stopped working and don't mention home flashing.

Hi ive tried that and still no luck, the green key i take it you mean the green telephone key, is that correct, if so looks like i have a dead n80, but am still trying to find the link to flash a dead phone, must be on here somewhere!!

First of all a hard reset will do nothing as your phone failed the firmware installation 90% through!

A hardware reset may only be successful if it reaches 100% then fails!

If your phone is under warranty take it to a Nokia service centre, just tell them the truth you upgraded your phones firmware via the Nokia website using their NSU tool but it failed halfway through and now your phone does not work!

Upgrading the firmware via their tool downloaded from their website does not invalidate your warranty so they will fix it there and then for free!

(Unless of course you changed the phones product code prior to upgrading the firmware!)

However you have nothing to lose by flashing the phone via phoenix so if you want I will try and re locate that guide for you! :icon14:

Hi and thankyou so much for your help, ive just rang my nsc and they said it will have to be sent away to nokia, i should have taken it to them 1st if you no what i mean, anyway i also bought this phone private so have no reciept etc, so it seems im going to have to try and reflash it, if you can find the guide for me, ive looked everywhere but cant find it.

Also when i plug my phone back in the usb i get the clink clink noise then after 20 seconds or so it does it again as if i have removed the phone from usb !! strange hey, and also when you plug a phone into usb it normally reconises it but am getting no white box right hand bottom of scree to say have found n80, just that clink clink noise when connect and then it disconnects itself,

Hope ive explained as much as i can and look forward to see if you can find a link for me...i owe you a pint or 5 if i sort it..

When you connect your phone to your pc via the usb cable and it makes that ding noise well that is a good sign!

It means you should be able to reflash it yourself using pheonix or so I remember from that guide I read!

I am still trying to find it but as usual when you need something it cannot be found!

Hi all, just to say many many thanx for all your help and support, i now have my Dead N80 Orange phone upgraded to the Nokia Generic, i took somebodys advice and took it to the nsc at salisbury, incase anybody was interested, and they are the only nsc in dorset/hampshire with a jig !!! so they was able to revive the dead phone and also put the Generic version in, hey i just hope its the latest !!!, lol, it should be.

Basiccally i told them i tried to upgrade the firmware and it got to 90% then stopped, bet they thought we got a rite one here !!, but i dont care all done now so going to put tom tom on now,
