y-browser, unable to execute file for security reasons!!!

Hi everyone,
I recently managed to flash my n80 to n80ie with 100% success. The next thing i did was restoring phone settings from the backup i made in the memory card, but the restore went wrong, about half of the software previously installed could be restored correctly, the n80 gave an error then asked to restart, after the restart completed it kept trying to install the rest of the backup with no success, and now every time i restart the phone it tries to reinstall it, and the phone doesnt let me connect to computer in mass storage mode. It doesnt end here, after the y-browser installed, it does not run giving the most strange error :"unable to execute file for security reasons", the same error goes to any file browser i try to run on it, SE explorer mobi explorer etc... i did hard reset with no luck, same error with factory settings... can anyone here help this poor soul --- :con? the rest of the software seems to be running fine...

There has been many reports of problems if you restore a Nokia Backup from a lower FW version into an upgraded FW N80.

It's better to use PC Suite to synchronise all your contacts, calendar etc., then copy any pics or music from the phone memory to the memory card. Finally, write down all the Connection Access Point settings on a sheet of paper.

Only once all of the above has been done, should you Flash your phone - then you can synchronise the phonebiook and calendar back from PC Suite, and re-enter any connection APs which cannot be created using the Settings Wizard. The settings wizard is excellent and can create most Mobile Network's AP's and create Email profiles for you, so it's only a few advanced AP's (e.g. Streaming, VOIP, etc.) which might need re-entering manually.

As for installed apps (in the Memory Card), I find about 50% of them re-install automatically, another 25% can be reinstalled manually from Apps Manager, and the remaining 25% (plus any apps you had installed in phone memory) need re-installed using the original SIS/SISX files.

P.S. I have upgraded my FW through 4 versions in 6 months and each time, Y-Browser gives the error you mention if I try to reinstall the memory card resident version using apps manager. Install Y-Browser using the original SIS file and it will work fine.

Hope this info is useful, even if it's come too late for you. 😉
