Unable to complete installation from the Memory Card...."

Hi Guys I successfully upgraded my N80 to N80ie - Thanks to Cash's guidelines. Everything went ok, except for this message every time that I switch on my phone....

"Unable to complete installation from the Memory Card. To install remaining applications go to App.mgr"

I also have these strange copies under my AppManager.

I have been told somewhere to use a Card Reader and delete a folder named Uninstall.

I did that but this did not resolve the problem. Is there another way to do it or give me a directory using a Card Reader?? Thanks guys😡

You should be able to delete corrupt or partly-installed apps using Apps Manager when the memory card is still in the phone.

I got a solution somewhere, so I thought I share this with other members who also experienced a similar problem.

DO NOT FORMAT YOUR PHONE!!

Here is the solution:

1. Go to App.mgr. and write down all those apps numbers that can't install or uninstall. E.g. (a000... etc).
2. Use Card Reader, and put youre card in.
3. Enable viewing hidden files.
4. Go to "Private folder" and delete folders, with names similar to the apps numbers you wrote, (those that can't uninstall, or install).
5. Go to "Private folder" again and find a folder, with all sis files of your installed apps (mine was 10202dce).
6. Delete all files with similar names/numbers like the ones you wrote, (those taht can't uninstall, or install).

7. Thats it!! Your phone is back to normal, no more in stalling everytime you start your phone!!

Thanks for offering the alternate solution. However, theres a couple of comments I wanted to make...

1. You can usually fully remove an App using App-Manager, which also removes any data folders and support files for the application. Simply removing the uninstall files manually leaves all the other files behind. Some of the junk may reside in precious phone memory even if the app was installed in the card.

2. I assume most people would want all their original apps to still be working after a FW upgrade? Therefore any corrupted apps will need to be reinstalled using the original SIS file. From my experience a SIS file, when re-installed, always creates the same filename in the Uninstall folder (e.g. 10202dce.SIS), so what's the point in deleting the uninstall files if you plan to reinstall the affected applications?

Anyway, the guy who started the thread seems happy and there's always one more way to skin a cat! 😉

Just something to add in case anyone comes across this, usually after a firmware update when it leaves a few installers in a corrupted state. The App Manager will not let you delete these corrupted installers (usually a string of numbers in the App Manager list) and the phone continually tries to install them (and fails) each time it is switched on or rebooted. Reformatting the memory card or manually deleting the relevant files may be the only option...

or, you could find the relevant installer off the net that matches the duff one, and reinstall the app via PC Suite or similar. This overwrites the duff entry in App Manager. Then you can either keep the app or uninstall it properly.
