HELP with N70 message alert/sms-tone

Hi,

I've no idea what have happened to my phone. I don't seem to receive a display alert (for eg 'you have 1 message'😉 on my screen when there is a new sms, it doesn't even sound.

Anyone knows how to deal with this problem? It's really frustrating as I've to enter my inbox every few mins to check for new sms-es...

PS: it's not in a silent mode, I've check the settings and everything is the way it is before so why the sudden change now? Plus, when someone calls, the ringtone is perfectly fine, but there is no sms-tone...

I'm having this exact same issue, only on an N71. Does anybody know what would fix it? A firmware update? Also, on my phone, it only happened after I installed an OS X theme from www danschwartz org/phone html Maybe it's just a coincidence though. I guess I will start with the FW update/reload and go from there. I'll keep you posted.
Well, update apparently worked. Display alert is back. To do this yourself if you have this problem, go to
europe nokia com/softwareupdate (sorry about the links, I'm a noob and can't post links apparently, just convert spaces to dots in the web address) and be sure to follow all the directions. It also helps to have a broadband connection and Nokia USB data cable handy. You should also backup your data to a memory card, or to your computer via Nokia PC Suite which you can download here
europe nokia com/A4144903 if you have things on your phone you would rather save.
Hopefully this will help.
