does vodaphone brand their nokia n73. if so is it bad or is it ok. thinkin of buyin one from them
n73 on vodaphone?
Yes they do but usually in a more subtle way. Sadly, most network operators brand their phone in some way (well, in the UK anyway). There are many reasons, a few good but mostly annoying.
If you feel confident enough, it takes no time at all to wipe this branding and get the N73 updated to the latest generic, unbranded firmware. I got mine from Orange who are reknowned for their unpleasant branding, and within 24 hours I had updated mine to the latest Music Edition firmware and I'm as happy as a pig in sh...., well, you know 😉 It's worth pointing out that this upgrade process does not unlock the handset from the network it was sold on. That side of things can only be done by the network operator.
Of course, the risk involved is that it could potentially invalidate your warranty and if something goes wrong mid upgrade, it could "brick" the phone. Although, saying that, I upgraded my mother in law's 6680 today and accidentally shutdown my PC whilst it was halfway through !! But amazingly, after the PC had rebooted, I powered up the Nokia Software Updater and it saw the phone straight away and upgraded the phone and now it's perfect.
Either way, the N73 is a very good phone. It would be best to get the right deal rather than worry too much about the branding. And if you need any help with upgrading firmware, you've come to the right place 😊
Good luck 😊
