Help needed regarding Firmware Update and Pop3 please

Hi,

In the past I used to be able to access my gmail account (on o2) with my N80 to check my emails and send.

I recently updated the firmware.. and had to input all the settings again..

I input the settings below, and can check my email.. However I Cant send any?

Any ideas anyone?

SETTINGS:

Swirly Menu button -Messaging - Options (key) - Settings - E-mail -Mailboxes - Options (key) - New mailbox - Start (wizard) - POP3 - [email][email protected][/email] - (incoming) pop.gmail.com - (outgoing) smtp.gmail.com - (access) always ask (or whatever you want) - [email][email protected][/email] - Finish

Mailbox in use - [email][email protected][/email] -select

Mailboxes - [email][email protected][/email] - select - edit - Connection settings - Incoming email - User name: [email][email protected][/email] - Password: your password - Incoming mail serv: pop.gmail.com - Access point in use: Always ask - Mailbox name: [email][email protected][/email] - Mailbox type: POP3 - Security (ports): SSL/TLS - Port: (user defined) 995 - APOP secure login: Off -

Outgoing mail - My e-mail address: [email][email protected][/email] - User name: [email][email protected][/email] - Password: your password - Outgoing mail serv.: smtp.gmail.com - Access point in use: Always ask - Security (ports): StartTLS - Port: (user defined) 465 -

User Settings - My name: [email][email protected][/email] - Send message: Immediately - Send copy to self: no (or Yes) - Include Signature: No (or whatever) - New e-mail alerts: On (or whatever) -

Retrieval settings - E-mail to retrieve: Msg. & attachs. - Retrieval amount: 30 (or whatever you define)

Automatic retrieval - Header retrieval: Disabled (or whatever)

OK - it may not be what your looking for - but I love the gmail app for N80 - however you must set your gmail lang to US.

It preloads and does some other cool bits - it does strip out a lot of the data, but I think it works brilliantly - downside is that it needs a connection (i.e. not downloaded to your phone)

What do you mean by 'gmail app', did you refer to their mobile optimized website? Or is there an actual program that you use for Gmail? I only know Profimail and Email Viewer for the N80, but maybe i'm not up to date with the programs?

Figured it out! 😊

In case anyone is having the same problem try changing the port setting in the outgoing mail / connection settings.

It says to use StartTLS

I changed this to SSL/TLS and it works - thats the same port used for incoming so it may have been a typo to use Start TLS?

Ive got no idea about the technical side of things but it works and as long as its secure it will do me 😊
