My FM Radio switches off and I can not use synchronization.

Dear friends,

Have you experienced that your FM Radio switches off as soon as you ask for it?

Also I am haveing a hard time (4 days not sleeping) trying to fix this stupid synchronization issue. Everything works fine except the sync. Since I have another laptop, I reinstalled new WinXP SP2, then, Office 2003 SP1 and while there were no firewalls or Anivirus software running I instaled my PC Suite, but still to no avail. SYNC did not work.

The funny thing is that I installed PC Suite at my friend's comp and everything worked fine immediatelly.

Please help me save some time, cos I like the phone, but it is kind of "usseless" without being able to synchronize it on a daily basis. Thank you and sorry for taking your time.

TIRED OF TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM....:frown:

@Tired

1. FM radio - this happened to me I think with the older P990 firmware. Are you using R3B01?

2. Sync issue. Well there are a number potential issues:

- Symbian Drivers. It is worth trying to uninstall the SE created COM ports and then allowing XP to re-install them

- Other sync s/w. Make sure you uninstall WM5 Activesync and any Nokia PC Suite software

- Windows Updates. Make sure you have applied all the Outlook related updates

- USB connector. Ensure you are connected directly to the USB port and not via a USB hub

When you first attach you P990 after a fresh install of SE PC Suite (use the latest version from the SE Support site) what messages do you see about the hardware that is discovered?

I had the same problem syncing. I called sony ericsson who said to try each item individually. i found out that it was the email sync that was holding the process up. i deselected it in sync manager and now everything syncs ok (except emails). as i don't use the phone for emails, it is not a problem for me. I cant remember if i tried syncing emails seperately after but it may be worth a try.

i may have a similar problem ... pc suite etc works AOK on my home desktop PC but can't detect my P990i on my corporate laptop

i'd appreciate any thoughts ... things that may be relevant follow ...

mRouter is a running process in memory BUT shows no icon just a blank space in my system tray ... AND crashes if I right click on it ;-(

in control panel | phone monitor options com ports 6 & 7 come back as disabled on restart of phone monitor even if I enable them ;-(

i've tried deleting com 6 & 7 & letting XP (SP2) recreate ... same result

i called SE yesterday and they referred me to $ service HiWire .... they spent 2+ hours & in the end think its my corporate settings for windows firewall &/or symantec virus (which I can't change) ... this doesn't smell likely to me BUT!

i had a P900 and the associated PC suite before this BUT have removed & reinstalled

when i hooked up the phone the USB auto detect stuff seemed to go OK ... BUT at the very end XP said "problem occured during installation ... hardware may not work properly"

if i connect in file transfer mode the PC can see the memory stick

oh PC suite is version 1.2.15 ... fresh from SE website Jan 2

i'd appreciate any thoughts

BTW I've also trying O-Sync and having some success and problems ... I'll still need the PC suite to work for HandySafe BUT in the face of mightyphone not supporting the P990i O-Sync might be a savior

I HAVE R3B01. IT IS BETTER NOW, ALTHOUGH IT CRASHES FROM TIME TO TIME ON CERTAIN STATIONS.

2. Sync issue. Well there are a number potential issues:

OK. TRIED THAT. NO CHANGE.

- Other sync s/w. Make sure you uninstall WM5 Activesync and any Nokia PC Suite software
DO NOT HAVE OTHER SYNC SW.

- Windows Updates. Make sure you have applied all the Outlook related updates
ALL ORIGINAL SOFTWARE AND ALL UPDATED.

- USB connector. Ensure you are connected directly to the USB port and not via a USB hub.
DO NOT HAVE A HUB.

When you first attach you P990 after a fresh install of SE PC Suite (use the latest version from the SE Support site) what messages do you see about the hardware that is discovered?
YOUR HARDWARE IS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY AND MIGHT NOT WORK.

That is it my friend. Still I have this problem. I was thinking could it be that I am using two laptops bought in USA. On both of them I have this problem. And when I tried on friend's desktop (European comp) it worked fine. Could it be something to do with that?

Dear friends,

Finally, after 2 months of "fight" with the computer, I solved the problem with syncing. It was that my language was not set to ENGLISH, but to Bosnianin in my REGIONAL SETTINGS of the Control Panel. Now everything works fine. Thank you, and I hope that this post will save some other forum searcher wasting 2 months.

Cheers.
