N73- Installation Issues NEW

Hello,
I have a nokia n73 with firmware edition 3.0638.0.0.43 . It has a 2gb minisd made by kingston. Lately I have been installing a lot of applications to the minisd. Now something very weird is happening. When I turn my phone on, or unhook it from the pc in mass storage mode, a message pops up and tells me that it is "installing". Then it tells me there is some untrusted software and that i must go to the app manager. I go to the app manager and there are 2 applications that are listed as "not installed", they are called a000103d.sis and a000150a.sis ... So I try to remove them, but they aren't installed. So I try to install them, they are "unable to install". When I try to install them It tells me that they are named Metro s60v3 and VGBA. So, now I don't know what to do. I want to remove those two...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greg

Try installing those 2 applications again and remove them, they will go, this happened with me.

Now I have a question, I have installed a theme on the memorycard and then removed it, and now when i want to install it again , it goes to the end and a msg pops and tells me: "Unable to Install" my firmware is the ME .. I've searched all the phone for a milan application on the phone memory and on minisd but no use, + I tried both ways installing on miniSD and phone memory no use..
ALSO I've searched the internet and found some articles about a PRIVATE folder in my phone memory that makes this UNABLE to install msg pop but didn't know what to do and how to deal with a private folder on the phone memory since i dont kow how to see this folder... any ideas???

Same thing happens to me, but until now without solution. I just ignore it!

Thank You,
You managed to not read my problem, and hijack my thread

If you had read carefully, I explained that I had tried installing them and removing them and they refused to install.

Any other ideas?

I can't live with that imperfection 😃. It takes like 30 seconds before I have a usable phone.

Sounds like you have 4 options....

1. Reset/format the phone & memory card.

2. Reinstall the latest firmware.

3. Change the product code using something like NSS and then update, although as I read your post as I write this, you seem to have a later firmware to the ME version. Would this be the Internet Edition version ? If so, I don't think there is a higher version as yet, so that craps on that idea !

4. Take it back to the place you bought it and get it replaced.

These look like the ones I am going to try. But I don't want to lose all my settings. If I backup my phone then do one of those, and restore, wont my problem be restored too 😃?

Yeah, its the internet edition. Basically the music edition with a new folder and the multimedia key doesn't go straight to music. (I like to keep my phones up to date 😊)

I bought it on ebay. I live in the United States, where this phone isn't supported by any service provider yet. I bought a warranty, but I would sooner format my phone and memory card then try to get a new phone.

If I can't find any other idea, I will have to use 1 and/or 2 as a last resort.

Thanks for the ideas,
Greg

You mis-read the instructions.. What he means is you have to install again the ORIGINAL APPLICATIONS and not the ab000xxx.sis... I hope that helps you out...

On my Previous post, i said that I had troubles installing Milan Theme because I had installed it and removed it before, and when i do an installation it goes to the end and then wait 5 secs and tells me: "Unable to Install!" oke.

Now I managed to install it successfuly by "Force Installing" what I did is that I got a software for my pc called SisINFO which extracts .sis files i dont know about .sisx files but i think it should extract it , and I copied the extracted folder which its like the way it extact on your phone to the memory card private folder under the folder which has an XXX number name indicating the themes and voila I went to the themes manager and i saw Milan theme and its perfectly working!!!

hope for all people having troubles with: "Unable to Install" do the same to see if it works in every application not just the theme.

Oh! Thanks for clearifying. Now I have to track down those apps. I will return when I find and install them.

Thanks
