Active Standy? Any Use for it?

Hello,
I have had my n73 for a few weeks now and I can't find a good use for the active standby feature. I have the little icons, those are useful, but what about the other bottom part. I don't really have "appointments" or "meetings".. What do you use it for ?

Thanks,
Greg

I never really used the Active Standby option until the N73 as I felt it took up too much screen "real estate" on my 6680, but I find it much more useful now to have shortcuts to my favourite links and a list of my calender events. I do use those quite a bit as I sync up my N73 to my work Outlook. As I said, the N73's version is less obtrusive and I have found I like it more than ever before.

At the end of the day, it's horses for courses. You can turn it off if you don't like it.

You mean Internet Shortcuts? How do you put an internet shortcut on active standby?

No, I meant program shortcuts. I have TomTom, New Text Msg, Calendar, Contacts, Gallery & Music Player on mine. You can have internet shortcuts if you like though. They are pulled from your bookmarks and favourites and will appear in the selection list when setting up Active Standby.

Oh, ok. Besides the icons(shortcuts) and the calendar listings. What can active standby be used for? I don't use windows so I don't have Outlook, and it would be too much work to setup the n73 to sync with Evolution (Outlook-type program).

Other than what I have stated, it isn't used for anything else really 😊

It's just a way of having a bunch of frequently used program shortcuts easily available and a way of showing your current calendar entries. That's all 😊

If I could setup Evolution to sync with my Nokia N73 then I would use this. Has anyone ever setup Linux with Nokia N73 (other than in mass storage mode?)

I'm too lazy to enter events with my phone.

Thanks for the help
