Happy New Year to all at AAS!
The W950's music reproduction capabilities are remarkable. I have discovered the type of connector you use does matter - use the SE provided one not one from a third party. Also the SE HBH-DS970 sound better than most wired headsets at around UKP30 in price, but the the Senheisser PX-100s are pretty good. The best sound quality can be extracted from the Etymotic ER-6i in-ear headphones. AAC at 128kbps sounds better than MP3s even at 192kbps. For me music reproduction is about separation of instruments, 3D sound stage, ability to distinguish and follow bass instruments such as drums and bass guitar. The W950 is not just for the journey to work on the train/bus/plane etc it really is a mini hifi!
Jah,
Would you know how well it's music reproduction is compared to the SE P990i for instance? Or other SE phones in the Walkman-series?
Cheers,

the W950 does sound better than the other UIQ3 phones - P990 & M600. To be honest, you would notice the difference unless you had hifi quality headphones and you were in a quiet room. If on a train etc you would not notice the difference. The W950 has better bass control and ability to reproduce cymbals etc accurately.
