Hi all i just tried to do a firmware upgrade using the nokia sites stuff and my pc crashed and now my fone wont turn on could some1 please tell me

1 if this is terminal

2 if i can sort this out myself

3 point me in the right direction for the info i need to sort out my 3 week fone

4 how much i should expect to pay if i HAVE to go to a shop to get it sorted

thanks in advance for any help given

try taking battery out then back in.

Worst comes to worst take it to a nokia center explain what happened. I have always found them very good.

PC crashed what exactly happened?

If under warranty then sorting is normally free

I bricked mine and just took it back to Mokia and told them their phone was complete rubbish and it kept crashing and now it doesnt even turn on... they just replaced it.

Alternatively.... search the forum.

well my pc just froze nothing was happening at all

tried the battery thing and no luck i tried to do the firmware update again but it wasnt avin anyof it at all

plan b then, take it to your nearest Nokia center,(not CPW) explain what happened and fingers xssed they will resolve in a jiff 😊

Hehehe! I'll keep that in mind if I ever do it!

Had the exact same problem tried to upgrade mine via laptop it crashed & fone wouldnt switch on. Luckily for me i got a mate who owns a phone shop who somehow got it done under warranty even tho the n80 had no warranty left, it had to be sent away to nokia for a week, So hopefully your still under warranty so take it to a nokia service centre & they'll repair it for you.

quote Nokia UK - Warranty - FAQ
"The European Limited Warranty offers 24-month coverage for new Nokia phones purchased on or after April 1, 2005 within the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey."

Hi all thanks for all the replies you have been a great help i was hoping for a quick easy fix to this problem but alas no

but thanks to the advice given here (not 1 reply on the official nokia forum) i phoned the nearest nokia service point who said they will have to send it back to nokia and should take about 2 weeks at NO cost to myself whatsoever

so in my books you should all get a gold star

thanks once again

ps any1 know how to unlock a motorola v3 as the 3210 is very embarrasing in hope

Hi I had a flash error at about 80 % or so and the phone wouldn't turn on.

someone else mentions also to let your phone hanging on the pc for 15 minutes or so with usb on.

then try the official updater.
The official updater finally recognized my phone as an official n80, I needed to reflash 3 times till I finally got a UPDATED success message.

My phone isn't recognized anymore with phoenix when I scan it, I can;t get it to flash anymore manually too with phoenix. but it does work again 😊

Did you try a hard reset ?

1. Power off phone.
2. Press GREEN, 3 and * keys
3. Power on (still holding the three keys)
4. Wait 60 seconrds (still holding the three keys)

My update completed with "Update failed...retry or disconnect"..I chose disconnect and then the N80 appeared bricked.

Tried removing/reinsert battery, on/off, hard reset (3 * Greeen)...nothing...the fone completely bricked.

Reconnected and noticed the update software tho was quite happy to recognise a fone connected..SO i ran update again.

Note the fone still appears "dead"...no lights...nothing...

Update proceeded twice,,,failing at around 70%...retried 3 times and success...message update succeeded then the fone rebooted.

Points to note:
Even removing the battery and reinserting...the fone still stayed in a bricked state but receptive to initiating/running an update.

So all is not lost, reattach that cable and try a few more times...if the Updater recognises the "bricked" fone then try a few times 😊

I dont know what would happen if the battery left out for a few hours/days tho before retrying.

well the fone shop called me today to collect the fone and nokia couldnt do anything with it so they replaced it with a new fone oh joy now i got my baby back time to get it some apps and games and ringtones
