Orange N73 always connecting

I bought an orange N73 today and i've noticed that it keeps connecting to the internet. This happens even if i'm not on any application that should connect to the internet and i'm on the home screen. Is the phone meant to do that? how can i stop it, i dn't want to be charged

Yep, this is a feature Orange added because they thought it would make it a better "phone".
The only way to disable it at the moment is to debrand the phone by changing the product code on NSS, then updating the phone's system software over the Nokia Software Updater.

Search for guides.

PS: We REALLY need a registry hack on Orange branded phones for this! I can find in the startup what's causing this, but Symbian Secure prevents me modifying it =(

but doesn't this mean that everyone on a n73 thats on orange will get charged cos the phone keeps connecting to the net?

I solved this today!

It uses a "Protected" Access Point which cannot be deleted from the Access Points list; well not in the normal way anyway!

To remove it

Go to Tool>Settings>Phone>Orig.Phone Settings

Then enter the Lock code which should be 12345 and the phone will restart without the protected Access Point which keeps connecting.

I then upgraded my firmware this evening anyway to get the Music Edition which probably would have solved it too.

You can do it yourself or go to the Nokia website and download them.

Mine actually restored when I did my firmware upgrade to Music Edition using the Euro 1 product code.
