Internet Edition Folder Missing?!?!?!

4 replies · 2,192 views · Started 10 January 2007

After updating to Internet Edition I do get the 'Internet' folder in the main menu but it does not contain any of the new apps like MSN Messenger or GMAIL etc.

If I then restore the phone settings from my memory card the Internet folder is missing all together leaving a blank space in the menu and it looks crap!

I've read that this could be due to my saved theme is different from the new Internet Edition theme but have done a few tests and still seems to be the case, any sort of restore removes the Internet folder.

Has anyone with an English phone updated to Internet Edition and got all the new apps in the Internet Folder as apparently it works a treat on Asian phones.

Try installing the firmware again using NSU. It gives you the option to reinstall.

Yeah I've tried that and yes the internet folder does come back but then goes as soon as I restore my settings off the mem card. Annoying thing is I'm sure it worked the 1st time I did it but then I messed about with it!

Also tried resetting by holding green, *, and 3 at power on. Again the folder reppears but restoring takes it away.

Will prob need to reset it to get the folder back then import contacts etc from Nokia Software Suite and do the other stuff manually....or just live with a gap in the menu!!!

Maybe an update to Internet Edition would do it, will have to wait for one.

I installed Internet Edition a few days ago, before switching back to the new Standard firmware yesterday - I didn't get the Internet applications or MSN either, and I've seen the same thing mentioned in a few places now.

I'm guessing that Nokia have updated the firmware to remove the Internet stuff, but left the firmware version untouched.

I've read that it also might be down to operator limitations, not sure how true this is. Oh well, I've created my own 'Internet' folder on the root of the menu and placed all the apps in it that should be there, i.e. Messenger Live, Web etc. Not got a fancy picture but it's better then a gap!!!!

Have to say I'm impressed with the 'Stereo Widening' function ( I know this is on ME too). If you hold the phone horizontally about 30cms from eye level it really does work!

TomTom 6 also seems to be running slightly faster during voice commands too. Awaiting black faceplate and back cover from Hongkong now.
