Is there an option to restore the contacts alone to the phone??? cause i don't want the other softwares etc. to be restored too...
but whenever the restore option is clicked the option to select contacts alone is greyed out.... :con? :con? 😡

Use PCSuite - Sync function - Contacts.
when we sync the default assigned no's are lost... i've done that once...and lost the default assignment for 440contacts..and had to do it once more 😡
Assuming the contacts are already stored on your pc through the contacts function on pc suite, connect phone, go into contacts and change one of the numbers, then change it back again so there is a change to save. It will then give you the option of updating your contacts. Details of which will be on your phone and mirrored on your pc.
