Hi!

First timer here and just coming to terms with the new phone, N80. Used to have an Exec, but got to weak to carry it around the whole time!

Everything good apart from sending emails. I can receive without any problem, but when I try to reply or send fresh emails, I receive an error message stating "Unable to SEnd Message - ( And tyhen the name of the recipient)

Anyone got any clues how I can sort this?

Also, as an extra question, can anyone direct me to any sites that have applications that are compatible with this phone? Can't seem to find too many so far.

Many thanks in advance,

Stirly

Hi

Using POP, the problem is repetitive, and the settings for the outgoing mail are as specified by the email provider, Yahoo. All seems a bit odd. Even tried a rest and then inputting the settings again from scratch but with no success.

are you using a yahoo smtp relay or are you using your home networks smtp mail server???

If your using the paid for SMTP yahoo server you need to authenticate your outbound account also with your user id's, set your outbound account security to SSL and make sure your port is set to 995

I am using SMTP.MAIL.YAHOO.CO.UK. This is the free version. I am still unable to reply or send emails, although have no problems receiving them. Tried setting the port to SSL and 995 with no success I'm afraid.

Got any more ideas? Do appreeciate the support here - 😊

OK, done that and now it just hangs on the creen, displaying the message Connecting to mailbox 'Yahoo UK'. Then it disconnects and the email is queued in the Outbox.

All very strange!!

HELP!!

If you are sending the emails over the network (GPRS or 3G) then shouldn't the outbound mail server be your phone network provider and not yahoo?

Yahoo would only be used as the outbound if sending via WiFi?

yeah, I was kinda assuming he knows that, which could be my bad....

if you are sending via wifi, your ISP may only allow you to SEND via its own SMTP servers..... rather than the yaho smtp

Ah! Never assume any knowledge when it comes to me!! While I'm more than happy to own the device, don't expect me to know how it works!!

Will give it a shot and let you know how I fare. Thanks to everyone for their time and advice - much appreciated.

Afraid I am getting myself in a bit of a muddle here! Could anyone post the settings I need to get this to work?

I am an email account with Yahoo, but my mobile phone account is with O2.

Anyone??!!

Drama over!! All working fine now, thanks to the advice I received on the forum.

Many thanks once again to all who helped out here. Made all the difference!
