Im looking to get a new car kit for phone N80 as the THB swappable cradle that was supposed to last me thru all my phones, doesnt have a cradle for the N80😡 and after asking THB Bury, they tell me they have no plans to make one.... great.
So, I need a new one.. what have people got?? I know theres a lot of BT kits around but with the N80 battery life this isnt an option.
I want a kit that will charge my phone and one that will play tomtom instructions thru the stereo, with audio loom.
Anyone got any info?? thanks in advance. 😎
I was facing the same problem.
In the end I went for the excellent Parrott ck3100
Now it is bluetooth,
Is the easiest kit I have installed, uses the stereo wiring loom for power and for speaker connections. All fine providing you have the ISO standard plugs.
It also plays the tomtom instructions through the stereo although I am trying to stop it doing this as it mutes the stereo every time....Quite annoying.
I have an N80 and it doesn't sync the phone book but will if you use some free software from the nokia website.
The battery life isn't really a prob as I don't spend lots of time in the car, but to be honest, I just plug in the car charger if I need to..
When i bought my last car, it had a nokia carkit installed and the holder was for a Nokia 7210. I replaced the 7210 holder with a Brodit N80 holder which i bought online. It works fine and it charges my phone as well, and i can hear my calls and tomtom instructions through the car speaker (it's a special speaker for the carkit, not the car speakers actually). I have noticed that when i used it with the Nokia 7210, it used to stop the car stereo when i had an incoming call, but with the N80 it doesn't do that anymore, but that doesn't bother me at all, cause i can listen to music and hear tomtom instructions at the same time, which is good. Stimpy when you say it mutes your stereo when tomtom instructions are heard do you mean mutes for the instructions and then turns back up again, or mutes permanently???? The latter isnt anywhere I want to go. 😉
I'll have a look at the parrott kit... have heard its name baned around a bit when asking else where too...
