hello guys,
i've been thinking lately i want to get opinions from both parties here. N80 and N93 users...
i want to get a replacement for my N73,
which is better? the nokia n93 or the nokia n80?
i've been reading things good and bad on both but i want to summarize it all so i need all your opinions...
thanks!
I'd hang on for the N95 if I were you.
I'm upgrading from the N80 to the n95 as soon as it hits O2..

That may be a while in the offing, i dont think any of the major UK networks has even seen a pre production model of this phone yet let alone have an estimated time for network roll out 😞
I have an N80
I would say its very typical of most symbian phones.
Good points
easy to use menu system is typical nokia.
Good web browser
Wlan connection is good
3g connection and reception it high
Battery life is variable depending on network conditions and amount of use
It takes dropping relatively in its stride.
Camera quality outdoors is high
Not so good
Paint work liable to wear VERY quickly
Its prone to freezing (no more than any other symbian phone i have had )
camera quality indoors is pretty poor, you can tell its a mobile
digital zoom, better off not zooming past 2x
Flash web sites not supported this is a phone that has a flash player incorporated
overall
I wouldnt part with it just now, there is nothing on the market thats does what this does and looks as good IMHO
Everyone has a different experience of this phone, i work in the mobile industry and the people i work with are far more complimentary about this phone then they have been of previous nokias 😊
Forgot to add
The N93's a brick, played around with it but its just TOO big but it does take very pretty pictures 😉
Odd question - whats wrong with the N73 ? Its a phone I have been seriously thinking about for the missus (time for her to upgrade from a Three 6630) and this one looks perfect for her (she likes photos)

nothing...
its just that i need a phone with wifi because the data plan of cingular is totally killing me!
with the price im paying, im better off with a wifi enabled phone...
N80 has higher res screen. Similar to the Iphone except now. Small form factor for a smartphone. Not exactly Nokia's most sturdy phone.
N93 uses a QVGA screen. It has a GPU(3d graphics for upcoming N-Gage platform). VGA video recording. 3x Optical Zoom on camera which is a great feature if you take pics imo. Stronger battery life.
You also have the N93i coming quite soon.

Works well for me.
I have a black n80 bought SIM free after giving up on the ever moving release date from O2. I use it as my MP3 player, radio, SatNav, camera and even as a phone 😮. Mine's in pristine condition thanks to careful use of various crystal and silicon cases, and the constant use of a screen protector film. Plus I always use the wrist strap or a cradle when on the move.
The only thing it lacks from my perspective is a decent amount of storage - I use a 2gb miniSD card, but really need a 30GB one for my music lol. I have a spare battery which I've never needed to use as I can get a full day's usage for all purposes bar SatNav - I use a car charger when navigating.

O2 online are showing N95 release in March, as are Carphone Warehouse. I have no doubt that this will slip but I shall be using the promised date and the hopelessness of O2's customer services to leverage another discounted year on contract just like I did when the N80 release slipped (12 months 1/2 price contract + 4 months free usage thanks to a billing cock-up, ta very much :tongue😊
sorry for asking but whats satnav? what is it for?

Force of techie habit there: SatNav = Satellite Navigation via GPS - I use a Holux GPS unit and Navicore Personal software to navigate when driving.
