sorry need to ask this question again....im on orange pay as u go with n73....when some one calls me no contact name or phone number is in view it just comes up CALL.....tried everything i can at my wits end surely it must be something simple im missing

If the phone does not show it, then most likely the network is not sending it. What did Orange say when you called their customer service and asked about this?
Anyway, to narrow things down a bit...
Does the SIM you have work in some other phone (other phone shows the number)?
Does the phone work (show the number) with another SIM from Orange?
Does the phone work with a SIM card from some other operator??
What firmware version is on the phone?
Have you checked for updates via, e.g., http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate ?
