JUST DOWNLOADED TOM TOM 6 TO MY N80 WORKS FINE JUST WONDERED WHICH WAS THE BEST GPS RECEIVER FOR TOM TOM 6 AS THERES SO MANY ON EBAY.
I WAS LOOKING AT THIS ONE: Item number: 230079078709 JUST WONDERED WHAT EVRYONE THOUGHT?
ALSO MY N80 WAS ON ORANGE GOT IT UNLOCKED & UPGRADED THE FIRMWARE TO V4 SO IT SHOULD WORK FINE WITHOUT DISCONNECTING IS THIS TRUE?

MANY THANKS

i've got an n80 on orange with the tomtom software and use a bt holux 321. cost about 35 on ebay and it's spot on :icon14:
the v4 software means you won't get any drop out so you'll be ready to go!!

yeah, I got the holox 321 as well (paid about the same as old bloke thanks to wild postage costs 😡 )...

**take note that there is a holOx and a holUx brand... I think users on the forum have had experience of both... **

The 321 HOLOX I have is brilliant... powers up in 5 seconds, gains a signal in about 20 seconds and holds it anywhere in the car or pocket. ALSO, the 321 is autoshut off and battery lasts for a good few trips on sat nav all the way. 😉
Is always worth getting a car charger too should only cost you about 3

Holux GPSlim 240 -its tiny and well impressive!! worth the extra -and you get get it at a good price if you bid i got one for a friend, ordered it from a usa seller.

Also Noticed The Nokia Nokia Ld-3w Bluetooth Gps Receiver Was Thinking Stick To Nokia As This Is Prob Best Being The Same Brand As The Phone. Anyone Out There Got This One Just Wondered How Good It Is?

Honestly as the guys before said the holox 321 one is the business 😊

The reception on it is superb, i used it on my A1000 before moving to the N80. Make sure you have the version 4 firmware or the connection to any bluetooth device of this type is worthless.....

It also charges via usb or the adapter that comes with it, the batteries are ten a penny on ebay as well (older Nokia bat)

My vote is for the Holux GPSlim 236. I use it with my N80 and it superb. Don't know how it compares to the others listed here but I'd bet its as good if not better! Connects very quickly, comes with car and USB charger, will connect even when doing 80mph on a motorway (some seem to prefer connecting while motionless), I can't really find anything to criticize (oh apart from the slightly annoying flashing lights - but since it can be under your seat/in your bag etc and still have signal, doesn't bother me).

I think its more expensive than the others listed here, you can get it for about £40 on ebay if you import it, but I went safe and got it for about £60 from a UK website.

Check out this review that pretty much convinced me to buy it!

I also use the Holux GPSlim236. No problems with it whatsoever. Mine came from a seller on ebay called 'digichoice', who sells loads of these things. I have put a link to his ebay shop below but I would advise you to bid on one of his auctions for the GPS receiver as they often sell well below the buy it now price in his shop. I got mine for £21.01 as the winning bidder plus £13.99 postage. A grand total of £35 for a brilliant device.

actually, I think in this thread the 321/236 are joint top with a massive 2 votes, followed hotly by the 240 with one vote!

😉

Either way, Im sure any of those 3 should do you well. Let us know. :icon14:

i got a holux236 GPSlim and no mater what nokia smartfone i try it wont connect but i try a motorola L7 or a 6230i and its fine!! very annoying!! 😡

That is odd, maybe send it back and get a replacement? It worked perfectly straight away with my N80. When you say 'try to connect' what do you mean? Connecting to BGP over Bluetooth with pairing, or connecting to device from within tomtom, or you've connected to device but can't get signal?

i dont no i been on HOLUX and tried to upgrade the firmware but when i put it in the PC it says unreconized/malfunctioned and none of the HOLUX apps reconizes it in the PC

well i looked round the net and found a way of shorting it to reset it (was ment to anyway) but that done nothing aswell

when i turn it on the bluetooth flashes away and the red light find the sat (i think) then i try to connect to device and it wouldnt,

i been trying for ages to connect it today with no joy then out the blue it connected

i been trying to install tomtom and route66 but cant get them to install or do naff all 😡 so i downloaded a program called nav4all which conects to it but also GPRS so i dont no if it is working or just just pulling maps off the nav4all systems??

anyone care to share how to install tomtom of route66 i tried alot of things and i dont get what the route folder is? also i have tried opening all the files when it has been on my phone

still no joy

**EDIT I HAVE ALSO EMAILED HOLUX (THOUGH THEY HAVENT GOT A EMAIL AS SUCH) AND HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE, THEY ALSO SAYS ON THE WEBSITE THAT THEY WONT HELP BUYERS THER THAN FROM HOLUX APPROVED SUPLIERS, TBH I THINK THAT IS UNFAIR!**RANT OVER**
