Enabling Line 2 after flashing to N80ie

Hi Guys

Many thanks for this info.

I have a UK Orange branded N80 - I used NSS to change the product code, and then NSU to upgrade. I now have this

Firmware version
V4.0632.0.38
13-10-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (06)

I used the code 0544109 on NSS.

How can I change lines - previously (on a N80) I pressed # but that now gives me the silent profile.

If I go into Settings > Call - I dont see an option for line 2.

Line 2 is important for me, so can anyone let me know how I can re-enable it.

Many thanks

Just bumping this post.

Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

ALternatively is there a EURO version of the N80 which has Line 2 or Alternative Line Selection as part of the generic firmware?

Problem is I cant downgrade back to Orange N80 because I BB5 phones cant be downgraded I believe.

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers

Just looking through the IE manual...

In Tools>Settings>Call is Line Change enabled?

I don't have Line 2 so I'm not sure if I can be of much assistance.

Thanks for the reply, but no line 2 option under "calls" - only cellular and internet.

Really frustrating, as I know it must be there. How?

Because I have a voicemail on Line 2, and when I boot up the phone it asks if I want to hear the voicemail on Line 2 - I say yes, and it then asks, "Change to Line 2", and I say "Yes", and thennothing ......

:con?

What network are you with?

Maybe it's part of the network firmware? My generic N80IE doesn't have the option either. I know that 3's fw is pretty much generic (except you can't swith between Dual Mode and UMTS) as well and there was no Line 2 options there when I had it. Maybe anyone who has generic N80 fw might be able to tell you if they have a Line 2 option, if they don't it must be part of the network fw.

Am I making sense? I could well be chatting biscuits and getting the crumbs everywhere!!

I know it's a different model phone but does the following thread on the N70 (on Orange) help at all?

I should add that my Orange N80 originally came with Orange V3.xxxx f/w and I had it upgraded to V4.0623.0.42, 20-09-2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 (01) generic f/w. I've lost line 2 functionality but then I've never used the Line 2 service.

I think benj is right in that Line 2 is specific to Orange flavour firmware, certainly the #key shortcut is.

That's interesting - seems that if you do upgrade to generic you should be able to see the Line 2 option in the settings menu, you just lose the # shortcut. Maybe I was chatting biscuits before!

What we need is someone with N80 generic to put the final nail in my theory's coffin!!

Unfortunately its not just the # key which is not working on my n80. There is no option in the call settings.

In fact when I have just checked, I cant even get into the call settings - I could do before. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Factory reset I think !!!!

I had that problem, but when I changed default call to Cellular (in the Internet Tel settings) it worked. Maybe that's the problem?

Ive heard that you may require a SIM update to allow for the Line 2 option on the N series... but as Im not an Orange user (thankfully) I cant donfirm if this is 100% correct.

Either way, the update will have changed the line 2 funcionality although line swapping is available to all Nokia N series.

Thanks for the reply. I have asked Orange to send a SIM update, which I received - no change - still no line 2.

There must be a version of the N80ie which has Line 2.

See this post on another forum where the guy has the opposite problem

I just need to find out the code for that version and maybe I can then upgrade the firmware again !!!

Ideas?

Thanks Kontraband

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Still cant get it work, and I cant downgrade the flash version.

So a little stuck I'm afraid.

Any other advice anyone?

commjo or anyone else.. have you resolved this issue?

Since flashing firmware, not only can I not use Line 2, GPRS no longer works either - it times out trying to connect..

If no-one else has resolved, my only hope is that now that Orange have a v4 of the firmware available, that I can get it when NSU thinks there's a new version of the generic firmware available - 'cos at the moment it says I have latest [generic] and I can't get to any orange version...
