just thought i would share my story of my dealings with the nice people at orange!
well a couple of days ago my n80 stopped charging properly, i had to wiggle the connector around until it charged and would sometimes stop charging when i put it down somewhere so seeing as my phone is insured i decided to give them a ring and see if they could replace either the handset or charger, well after trying a different charger and it being they same they confirm its the handset at fault and they will replace it, then he says i will incur a 15 ADMIN CHARGE!! wtf?? i tell him if its going to cost me i may aswell put up with it as it is as it does charge if i put it down in a certain position so then he puts me on hold for a while and comes back to say he can waive the charge for me? tossers try to charge you for every little thing they can get away with! 😡

This is Bollox, they cant charge you this if the phone is still in warranty, most big companies try to charge things like this because many people will pay them because they don't know any different.
If you take their Orange Care, they therefore take over the warranty (like when you buy Cover on a PC or something).
Orange introduced "administration charge"s for insurance claims from a few years ago - I know because I cancelled my cover when that happened.
Beware - Orange are very strict on insurace claims.

well there is a very big difference between an insurance claim, and a claim under warranty....a warranty claim should be free of any charges as the product has developed a fault outside the users influence with normal wear and tear.
yeah, thats bullshoes...
Orange should be sorting that under warranty NOT insurance... STAND UP!!:icon14:
That's why i didn't take any insurance with the phone although they tried to persuade me to do it, they really tried hard. But i kept saying no. They even offered me 1 month free, but i said no. You see, if you read the small print of your insurance contract, it specifies that you will have to pay the first 15-50 pounds of any repair (depending on the company you insure your phone with, and that depends where you buy your phone from, phones4u, carphonewarehouse, etc), it's like with the EXCESS on your car insurance, so i don't see the point of insuring my phone. Let's say that i smash my phone after 6-9 months after i bought it. I could buy a pay as you go (same model) which will get cheaper in the meantime. Plus, you have a good chance of getting a refurbished phone in exchange from your insurer, so it will be a second hand anyway. Why bother then?
Anyway, i am very careful with my phones, don't usually lose or smash them, only smashed a 6210 once, and sorted it by replacing the LCD, which cost me 25, much cheaper than the insurance at 5 a month. Insurance is probably good for builders or people like my friend who got drunk and dunked his phone in the whisky glass 😊)))
yeah, I hear that grip... its the same with all insurance tho... what Ive paid in car insurance could buy me a nice new beemer or the likes... 😡
anyway, Ive used my phone ins. many times... as like your mate... its been in wine cooler buckets, down toilets, down flights of stairs, in swimming pools ... I really should stop getting boozed. :trytofly:
Yeah, I had the exact same problem with my N80 charger. Maybe its more common than I thought?
But I phoned O2, it was within 6months of purchasing it. They said fine, we'll send you a new one, no problem, this would be under warrenty as I have no insurance.
2 weeks later no charger.
I phoned them back, and they said they didn't have one, which is why they didn't send one out -- a phone call would have been nice!
Anyway, they said if i buy a new charger and fax them the receipt they would refund me the cost -- although I havn't taken them up on this offer yet.
I have a friend who works for orange and the policies he quotes to me -- especially over things like batteries and chargers -- sound like utter crap! I would never go for orange. Infact some of them seem to be in breach of typical usage policies, which you can claim over by law, but its a big hassle.
Hope you get it sorted.
I broke my original charger and got an OEM on that does the same thing you mentioned... sometimes need a twist to start the charge ... so yeah.. clearly is more common :icon13:

My charger is broke also, cable has broke near the stupid little pin plug, got a third party charger that seems to charge the battery better, and the cable and connection is definitely more robust.
As for claiming anything by law, its actually quite an easy and interesting process to go through in the small claims court on-line..I do it all the time if any company plays up or treats me like some idiot who doesn't know their rights😊.
I have recovered over 4k of stuff that I would never have gotten if I didnt take them to court. and interesting point is that all but one of the companies I claimed against paid up before the final judgement was made against them, the one that didnt was a one man band company who didn't know the laws of distance selling and thought that he could win 😊..but he didn't 😊..

Its just like claiming in the small claims court, but you do it all from the comfort of your own home,
It costs about 50 quid I think now, but you also claim this as an expense in the summons.
Dead easy and gets results quickly 😊...the last thing a large multinational wants is a CCJ for something that is really insignificant to them.
well i got my replacement phone today, its just the barebones handset like the guy told me (no battery, mem card, or battery cover!) but it is a brand new one so i quite happy, now just need to flash to generic to get rid of the orange crap, and also i'n thinking of cancelling the insurance now as its a waste of £5

I hope it isn't just me but that link appears to be dead. Google still lists it though, so maybe my internet is having a tizzy today.
Update: I was being a moron, a new piece of software I had forgotten about was blocking .gov IPs it's all sorted now. Cheers!

I just checked, and the link worked for me 😊..
right, after upgrading my phones firmware to n80ie my bluetooth no longer works 😞 i don't know if it worked before i updated as i never tried it, but now it cannot be seen from my pc or other phones and it cannot see other phones or my pc, any help or do i need to call orange again? 😞
phone insurance have awful rep for good reason.
so after a format, and a factory reset my bluetooth still isnt working, i guess it must be a hardware problem, looks like my problems aren't over yet 😞
might be worth starting a new thread with your bluetooth issue so as not to divert with your Orange rant, plus you may get clearer responses. 😊
