Orange and N80 signal

Anyone having really bad problems both getting a decent signal and keeping a decent signal?

When I go to make calls from certain places my signal is full and then when I press send the signal vanishes and it says connection error. I am increasingly getting more 'network busy' errors and the phone drops most calls about 3 or 4 mins in.

This phone has been like this since I got it, and it itself is a replacement to a phone which was replaced for the same reason.

Enough was enough and I reflashed this headset with the nokia one and got rid of all the annoying orange crap, this was good as now my phone no longer randomly connects to the internet on it's own to download stuff from orange. This was my main reason for flashing it.

The phone is more reliable now but is still crap and I wish I never bought it, it takes ages to boot, takes ages to become usable once booted and it drops calls all the time.

I blame Orange for the call problems, I live in the North East of England and no one on other operators has the same problem.

I have had it with Orange, i have been a customer for 5 years now and they keep convincing me to come back even though I decide I am leaving them every time I ring to cancel after my contract is up.

I am playing 5 per month for insurance and I asked the guy, if I no longer want it can I cancel it, and he said yes. So here I am 8 months later and no longer want insurance.... I ring up and I am told that I can't cancel insurance because it is a contract! Then I said "If i void the insurance, IE forcefully damage the machine, or if I change the covers etc something that voids it then can I cancel my insurance....."No" I am told! NO!!!??????? Is this even legal??? So I would be forcefully paying 5 a month for insurance that is void and if anything happened to my phone they wouldn't do a thing about it.

So if I void the insurance on my car or have my car stolen and don't want to claim then I have to still pay for my car insurance? I think not!

Orange can go hell, I am leaving them when my 18 month contract is up! Only 10 more months of hell!

This is the 2nd time I have been told something by an orange call centre genius and when I come to query it they told me a load of lies. Last year I went on holiday and rang orange to ask how much calls to the UK would be and he told me, I wrote it down and then considered the costs every time I made a call. I get home and get a huge bill, ring orange and they told me prices that were twice as much as I was told before I went. Once again I am left thinking, what just happened?

Two things spring to mind:

1. Contracts always have terms by which either party can end the contract. These should be included within the Terms and Conditions on Orange's website, or obtainable from Customer Services.

2. When obtaining information from customer services always make a note of date, time and operator. Obtain things in writing (usually easiest to get via email) where in doubt. Then if trouble arises speak to a supervisor and request that they obtain and review the tapes of the conversation.

Is it possible that the signal problem is occurring when the N80 is trying to switch between 3G and standard networks? Have you tried using the Phone Settings Network menu to switch from Dual Mode to GSM only?
