Unknown Artist

Having successfully transferred several albums onto the 950i, why is it some of them appear as 'unknown artist' and the cover art does not appear? I have other albums on there that display both the album name, artist and cover art so must be doing something right. Is there a way around this?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks
Martyn

Its most probably because their ID tags havent been set. If you open the file up in your mp3 player on your PC (i.e. winamp), right click the file and then set ID3 tag. Make sure all the info is correct and there you go. However, some songs give you the option to have 2 ID3 tags. Make sure only one of ID1 or ID2 is checked, if both are then the tag will conflict and become unknown.

For cover art to appear you can manually transfer a jpg picture to the folder where the album/mp3's are located. (Be sure to name the picture "folder.jpg" otherwise it won't work)

The only thing you've got to do next is update/refresh your music(library)...

Check out this software:

zzz.avsoft.nl/artfixer

I got the error below so replace the zzz with www
"You are only allowed to post website or email links after you have made 10 posts or more."

Its free to use - and they accept donations if you like the product.

Its a really easy way to check all your music files for correct tags and associated cover art. It will actually download the art for you and automatically correct your library (and even rename the song files to include track order...if you want it to)

I used this and by far found it the easiest way to get my music sorted out for easy transfer to my w950i.

I had the same problem after the last (and only, so far :frown: ) fw update. Even worst: trying to display "My Music" in "albums view" crashed the Music Player (and often the phone).

My music files are encoded as AAC-VBR. Converting them to MP3 fixed the problem(s). Some cover-arts are still missing though :frown:
